 Matthew Cuthbert was quite suprised when he showed up at Bright River Station to find out that the boy he planned to pick up was a girl. The only thing he knew off to do was to take her home and let Marilla decide what to do about it. On the way home Anne talked a lot, but Matthew didn't really mind, for he was a quiet man and liked the fact that he didn't have to talk. Matthew loved Anne a lot. Maybe more than she realized.
