At 8:15 we go out to meet our Meers town car. It's pretty and white. We sit Michael up front and
we get to cuddle in the back. We arrive at the back entrance to Epcot just after the bus gets there from the All
Stars. We notice something right away, we've got the lost families! I finally get the passel of kids I was looking
for, and we get hugs and congratulations from the bunch. Ken and our Disney hosts get us to the UK lower terrace;
not an easy trip for 40 people trying to keep together and look around at the same time.
It was cold! Frank had brought me his overcoat, just in case I needed it (I didn't need it after all). But once
we get down to the UK Lower terrace, things seem warmer. I think less wind gets to this area. I steal Phil's hot
chocolate (it looked good, and he volunteered it). Wow, that is good stuff! It has a fancy French name, but it's
really just great hot chocolate. I try a few of the desserts, which were good, but I think I must've been spoiled
by the wedding cakes. Everyone was dressed differently -- some of us had put on fancy duds, and others were in
their comfy clothes. (We had encouraged folks to explore the parks in between our two receptions if they wanted.)
Michael and Lan brought cigars for all who would like them. My sister is one of the takers, as well as Dad and
Michael. And yes, I did try one too. And of course after I take a puff is when they tell me, "oh, you
aren't supposed to inhale; just taste it..." Thanks.
This was a very fun gathering … with few seats, and it being cold, people really did move around.
I loved it! Everyone had arrived by 8:30 (a few coming in after a stroll through the park). Illuminations _usually_
starts at 9:00, but tonight it starts at 9:30 (I don't know if this is for the holidays, or for the millennium
celebrations). We found out about the late start time after all arrangements had been made, so Ken said that we
would get a free half hour at the end (leaving at 10:30 after Illuminations, rather than leaving at the normal
10:00). This gives us plenty of time to play and to talk. Some folks wander out to the park and pick up some goodies
from the stores.
At one point Ivy asks me where the bathrooms are. I have no clue, so I tell her to ask one of the Disney folks.
We had Ken and a couple event helpers standing nearby that I pointed towards. Ivy goes to Ken to ask him (I was
thinking one of the other helpers, but oh well). Well, Ken doesn't miss a beat and takes her by the hand and walks
her out to where the bathrooms are and returns with her shortly after. More points for Ken :)

Illuminations starts promptly at 10:00. It is simply the most incredible show I've seen yet at Disney.
Surpasses the fireworks, parades, former Illuminations, and Fantasmic by a long shot. It is wonderful. And it warms
us up ;) It lasts a good half hour and is mesmerizing. Fireworks, laser, lights ... all sorts of stuff. After Illuminations
is over, my sister comes over and thanks me for such a wonderful party - she has tears in her eyes. Of course it
could've been from that cigar, but then again, I don't think so.
They don't rush us out after the show; they let the park clear out a little bit first. The we get herded to our
backstage exit, still through a good many folks. We get more congratulations along the way. When we finally get
"home" to the Wilderness Lodge, both of us simply crash into bed for the night.
