In Memory of Jerry

This is for my cousin Jerry Lee Reddell.
He has been taken from us much to young.
Jerry lost his battle with cancer
just a few months ago.
Jerry was born on November 12, 1947
and passed away on December 30, 1997.
Leaving behind many family and friends.
Jerry was a wonderful Husband to Pam
and a loving Father to his sons.
We all miss him very much.
Below is a poem written for Jerry
by his friend, Ron Bamburg.

IN MEMORY AND HONOR
OF JERRY REDDELL

by Ron Bamburg

With a casket made of solid oak,
We think of Jerry's character (like a strong oak tree),
We think of his love, we think of his jokes.
Pet names by Jerry brought loved ones cheer -
Princess fuzzy squirrel, two feathers, little fox,
And his stories about Frankie the deer.

Memories of tickled noses, frozen Pepsis and a go-cart ride,
Jerry and Donald Hamilin mechanicing side by side.
Rough, but gentle hands hanging Christmas lights
With Pam many Christmases ago,
Willard and Jerry standing together at the end of an
alfalfa row.

Crops to gather, telephones without end,
Pacific Bell by day, and crops by night to tend,
He was respected by fellow employees, his customers
and kin,
Jerry was a devoted husband, loving father and friend.

Born in Fresno, Jerry grew up in Caruthers,
Raised on a farm by his dad, Willard, and Nadine, his mother.
Jerry, Carl, Janice, Judy and Karen shared so much with each other,
Jerry was loved by his sisters and brother.

Matt, David, Mark and Stan,
Your daddy's gone on to a much better land,
His hope was that you will one day meet him in that city of light,
After living for Jesus with all your heart, soul and might.

Pam and Jerry were married on April 30, 1976,
In October, 1996, Jerry grew sick,
But out of that sickness, came joy and love,
As Jerry and Pam placed their treasures above.

Jerry fought the good fight, He finished his race,
Jerry's gone on to a much better place.
The bull riding is over, the victory has been won -
Jerry is gone to be with God's only begotten Son.

My Favorite Memory of Jerry

When I was little we were very close to Jerry
and his family. You see my Mother and Jerry's
Dad are brother and sister. We lived about 90 miles
apart but saw each other often as they lived in the same
town as my Grandparents. They lived on a farm
and of course being a city girl this was always an
exciting time and place to visit for my sister and I.

One day when we stopped by there place for a visit,
we got quite a show. You see my aunt and uncle
had taken the girls to the grocery store with them,
leaving Jerry and his brother Carl at home.
You have to understand that Carl and I are the
same age and my younger sister and Jerry
are the same age. We were probably
between 10 and 12 years old at this time.
The boys were always getting into trouble
because they liked to ride their milk cow.
They were pretending that she was a bull
riding bull. They would get her all upset
and then her milk would not be very good
so my uncle has told them to leave the cow alone.

When we drove in the driveway what do we see!
Here is Carl sitting on the milk cows back
and little Jerry is running along behind them
pulling her tail and making her run around in
the pen. Well as luck would have it, my Dad
had his movie camera with him and so we
have movie pictures of them doing the very
thing they were told not to do. We still laugh
about this and look at this movie every few years.

Boy did those two brothers get into trouble
when my aunt and uncle got home. I think
they had to do extra chores for at least a
year over that one. I just wish that I could
get this movie onto my site to let everyone see.

Jerry grew up to be a wonderful man, father
and husband. I didn't get to see him much
after we were grown and had families of our
own but I will never forget the phone calls
we had and all the times growing up.

To Pam and the boys just know that I loved
Jerry very much. He will always have
a very special place in my heart.

From your cousin,
Joanie
