Basket Weaving
Elizabeth has taken several classes on Basket Making. Here she concentrates as she adds a row of flowers to her basket at John C. Campbell Folk School. This particular basket could have been made in a short or tall version. Elizabeth opted for the tall version to carry more goodies.
There is no truth to the saying that basket making classes are easy classes. An evenly shaped basket takes lots of skill. There is no limit to the artistry that can be expended on a basket. Many baskets made by Native Americans are beautiful and priceless. Since recorded time, people have been crafting baskets from everything that can be woven. Baskets are made from materials including pine needles and kudzu.
