This Regiment was organized in May, 1862, and originaly commanded by Col. Rudolph Borgesrode of Shakoppe. Ordered to Pittsburg Landing, May 9, 1862, leaving detachment of three companies in Minnesota, garrisoning frontier posts. It participated in the following marches, battles, sieges and skirmishes:
