Eighth Regiment Infantry

This regiment was organized Aungust 1, 1862, ans originally commanede by Col. Minor T. Thomas, of Stillwater, MN. It was stationed at frintier posts until May 1864, when it was ordered upon the Indian expedition. It was engaged in the following battles, sieges, skirmishes and marches:
  • Tah-cha-o-ku-tu, July 28, 1864
  • Little Missouri, battle of the Cedars, Wilkinsons's Pike, December 7, 1864
  • Near Mufreesboro, December 8, 1864
  • Overall's Creek
  • Ordered to Clifton, Tennesee, Then to Cincinnati, then to Washington, then to Newbern, North Carolina
  • Battle of Kingston, March 8, 9, and 10, 1865
  • Men were mustered out at Charlotte, North Carolina, July 11, 1865
  • Discharged at Fort Snelling, Minnesota
