The funeral
The funeral is another opportunity for memory creation.
Many bereaved parents derive comfort from placing significant objects
in the baby’s coffin. It is nice idea to purchase a Mizpah coin, the kind
that's in two pieces on two separate chains. It says, "May the Lord watch
between me and thee while we are apart from one another." Friendship
necklaces and braclets can also be purchased for this. Parents typically
bury one half with the baby , and keep the other half to wear. Another
idea alng these lines is to purchase a pair of earrings placing one with
the baby and keeping one to wear.
Another article that parents often place in the coffin with the
baby is some kind of soft toy, a smaller one can be purchased for the
baby and a larger one for the parents to keep the bear may
also serve as a focus for the need to cuddle something after the baby has
been buried.
Some parents ask family and friends who are attending the funeral
to bring a small article of childhood with them and place it in coffin
with the baby, others include photos of family members or drawings from
siblings.
