Boulevard Malls Are Budgeted

After meeting with members of our Association and the Rockaway Park Association last month, Queens Borough President Claire Shulman agreed to support the extension of the malls (grass medians) on Rockaway Beach Boulevard from Beach 140th Street to Beach 125th Street.

The Borough President added $400,000 in funding to the $315,000 in State funding Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer had secured to make this long-sought community enhancement a reality. The 14-foot wide grass malls will be similar to those between Beach 140th and 142nd Streets, and include cement areas for crosswalks. This means the malls will make it easier to cross the wide boulevard in addition to beautifying the neighborhood.
