Mary-Eben & Elan Danziger
Mary-Eben & Elan Danziger are my two little cuties. Mary-Eben is from Danziger Litter #1 and is definitely a polar fox. Elan is an AaPpCCEeGg agouti from Mindy. They're a very cute couple ;) Mary-Eben is registered with the GCM as TDC's Greatest Love Story and Elan is Mindy's Drawn to the Rhythm.
Mary is a very friendly little girl, and was born September 21st, 1998 in Adair & Danziger's first litter. They're black and agouti and her grandparents were ivory cream and nutmeg. Her siblings included two ruby eyed whites, a nutmeg, and 2 agoutis. I certainly was surprised to get a polar fox in the FIRST litter since it's just a 1 in 16 chance! It took me ages to figure out if she was one. I thought maybe she was just a really light dark eyed honey for a while, but then when she was about 8 or 9 weeks old she started getting her polar fox "dusty" ticking look and stayed very light cream, and I just KNEW she couldn't be a DEH.
Elan on the other hand is a golden agouti boy from Meeshu & Madaline (belonging to Mindy). He came to my house on November 12th, 1998, and was probably born around September 30th, 1998. He was bred by Mindy in NJ and is of course a sweetie = ) He's Adair & Danziger's brother, and Darwin's uncle. We're just a big ol' happy family ;)
The two of them are just so sweet together. They always bury themselves in the corner in a pile of bedding to keep cozy (it's winter right now), and when I take the lid off to look at them they give me these cute little faces ;) They always love cuddling up next to each other. Mary sometimes jumps up at the lid--she loves exploring. Once she escaped while I was at school--nearly gave me a heart attack when my mom said "that white one of yours is out running around" and I realized that Fox, Skittish, and Reilly were all in their cages... but just as I sat down next to her tank to see if she was in there, she walked right up to me! ;)
I think Elan has one of the cutest little agouti faces there is. He has such deep little black eyes ;) He is also quite the chunky little lad! I think his family has a tendancy to be thick about the middle... Darwin and Danziger are the same way, and Meeshu appears to be the same. In contrast, Riven's family is always sleek, and slim. Eventually I'd like to breed Riven's (the Danis) family into Elan's. The Danis were originally a stout little bunch but Riven's influence made them sleek and slim... I know I'm babbling pointlessly but I think it's pretty cool ;)
In this picture about you can see Mary's ticking very well. She definitely looks like a cross between a dark eyed honey and a grey agouti. In some lights, she looks totally white. In others she looks like a very light, creamy DEH, complete with the little white fur wedge by the ear that is the signature of DEHs. But in other lights, she'll look grey agouti because her ticking comes out... well a very washed out grey agouti! Polar foxes have quite the unique look.
Mary-Eben & Elan became parents on January 23rd, 1999! They had four pups. 2 grey agouti, 1 yellow fox, and one nutmeg or silver nutmeg! They're very adorable.

Of Genetics & Pups
Elan's genes are AaPpC*EeGg. Mary isAaP*C*eegg. That means they'll definitely have agouti, black, dark eyed honey, nutmeg, grey agouti, slate, polar fox, silver nutmeg, and very likely other colors too, such as red eyed colors. We'll see once they have pups! ;)
