The Salvation Army was founded in 1865, in London, by a Methodist Minister named William Booth. He dedicated his life to bringing people to God and to bettering the life of the poor. His ministry caught on when the movement adopted a military attitude about "the war against evil", as well as a military style of organization. Today, Salvationists are organized as soldiers and officers. The officers are ordained when they receive their commission of lieutenant, and they wear a uniform. Soldiers may also choose to wear the uniform which proclaims the commitment, Christian faith, and availability, "to anyone needing a helping hand and a listening ear", of the wearer. Men and women are trained and promoted equally in the Salvation Army. My role has lessened with my moving around,I had to resign from the Plano Texas Advisory Council
God Bless these folks as they share from their hearts!
