"The Serenity Prayer" God, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change Courage to change the things I can and the Wisdom to know the difference!!! My Mother will be 77 years old on September 5, 1997. She has been a light in my life. She has never met a stranger, I remember all the sacrifices she made for us children. She has touched the the hearts of many people during her stay on this earth. Her favorite song is Amazing Grace. That was the first song I learned to play on my piano. She was sitting in church one day a few years ago, as the preacher began his sermon, she had a funny feeling come over her. Her head hurt and her eye sight became blurry. She sat real still and prayed that someone would help her. One of her lady friends saw that Mother did not look right. The friend immediately came to Mother's side and took her home. From there Mother went to the hospital. She had experienced a cerebral aneurysm. The Doctor's did not give us much hope of Mother surviving the surgery. Without the grace of God, she would have left us on that day. Not only did she survive the surgery, but through many weeks of therapy she learned to talk, walk and to recognize us. We are still being blessed by her beautiful gift of giving and her beautiful smile. Thanks Mother for always being the best, loving and giving person I know. Love Carrie. Today is June 19, 1998. She visits me real often and is doing great. She still puts a lot of the younger folks to shame with her ambition, her beliefs, her ability to put a smile on your face. She still is amazing us with her continued progress! Way to go Mother! :o) (((hugs))) to the best Mother in the world! Today is September 14, 1998. Mother turned 78 last weekend. I am so very proud of her. She just "Keeps On Keepin' On"......That has become my motto! So when you see it posted by me in Forums, noted on my email, or on a card...you'll know its because of my Mother that I always say. "Keep On Keepin' On" :o) Today is November 26, 1999. Mother is now 79. She is getting a little more feeble, but is still an amazement to me. I still get tears in my eyes and a full heart just looking at her. Some days she has trouble remembering names etc. however, she is still as beautiful today as she was the first time I can remember seeing her. Which was ...oh my can't tell you how many years thats been...I don't tell my age. LOL Mother loves to laugh and have a good time. She still attends church every Sunday she can get out. With winter coming soon, she'll not be able to get out of the house much! I love you Mother and wish I could see you every day. Your bedroom is ready for you, it even has Grandma and Grandpa's pictures on the dresser just like you asked me to fix it. Gotta go now, will talk to you soon.
