Our Love Story began in such a strange way. It reminded John of the movie "Dr. Zhivago", so for that reason we have been very partial to the theme song of that movie. However, the song I hope you hear in the background is our song!

Let me see...where do I start? I guess the beginning would be the best and most informative. In 1980 I was divorced raising 2 teenagers. John was divorced and living a life of misery. His young son was taken from him while he was at work. He had his teenage brother living with him. John was so unhappy had no self esteem, and did not know how to accept unconditional love.

I was working as a title clerk at the local Chrysler Dealership. He was a principal of an elementary school. We had a mutual friend who kept trying to introduce us. She would call me at the office to tell me about him. As soon as John would arrive at the board of education building, she would tell him about me. This went on for several weeks. Well...I was not interested in meeting a man at this point in my life, I had been hurt very badly. I was raising my children, who were and still are the most precious things God could have given me. They were 12 and 15 at the time. One day I had an argument with my boss, needless to say I was not in the best of moods...but in walked this hunk standing 6'4" and looking really good...hmmmmm...So it began...from that point on we became friends.

The date of our chance meeting was September 17, 1980. We walked out to the street, since I was already in hot water with my boss...I decided this meeting needed to take place outside of my office... so being the genius that I am..I asked him if he was there to look at my car...lol..yep..told him I was selling it and took him out to look at it...on the way outside I slipped him my phone number and asked him to call that evening.

The first of many phone calls lasted an hour. We slowly but surely fell for one another...it was as if my strength was what he needed to fill a void of his weakness and vice versa...thus "Our Love Story" began.

We were married one year later on Sept. 17, 1981. The ceremony took place in the front yard at Whip-Poor-Will Farm. Jim and Sheri were our attendants. Joshua was not allowed (by his Mother) to attend the wedding. It was a wonderful day...one that I never in my wildest dreams thought would happen.

Here we are 17 years, 3 months and 15 days later... We still dance in the middle of our kitchen, we still hold hands as we walk on the sands of a beach...any beach, it doesn't matter which one..I love the sound of the ocean, the feel of the sun on my body, the comfort knowing that God created such a wonderous picture...Have you ever stood on the beach and looked and listened? Try it, its almost hypnotizing. The older I get the more I long for the solace of the waves, the sounds, the peace and contentment which overcomes me when I am sitting looking out at the beauty of the ocean!

So my friends, you now know our story. I would like to take this opportunity to tell all of you to take the one God gave you to love and hold on tight...be yourself, and don't hold back, give all you have and therefore you will receive all that you need.

Happy Valentine's Day 1998.
