Well now she's gone and done it! This morning while I was out in the yard
working (mowing, watering plants etc.) Kimi decided to try out these 'mud
bathes' she keeps hearing about (not from me...I think she has been
watching to much tv again). This led her to another 'first' experience, one that I
am certain she is not going to want to repeat anytime soon. It went something
like this:
I gathered up the bath stuff.....towel....(a big fluffy warm one) shampoo (flea stuff for puppies of course) and Kimi (well...she IS the one getting bathed!!) and headed for the kitchen sink. (gosh...after bathing newfoundlands this is a nice change of pace! LOL) With Kimi in my arms looking on very interestedly, I started the water, waited for it to warm up and checked it to be certain it was the right temperature. Not to cold....not to hot......we want to be sure it is JJUUUSST right. (maybe we did learn something from Goldilocks after all!) When the temperature of the water seemed perfect I placed Kimi in the sink. (kimi's version.....) WHAT!!!!!???? HEY!! This is wet!! Let me outta here!!!!!!!! Mommy no!!!! HELP ME!!!!!! Someone...quick!!!!! call 911!!!! (what's that mean anyway? I got it from tv) I've fallen and can't get up! ....No wait...wrong show..... This is wet! And ...and ....well...it isn't cold...or hot...but it IS WET!!!!!!! HELP ME!!!!! Mommies side: Yep....that's pretty much how she reacted. Now amount of calm, soft talking helped. No amount of kisses and cuddles worked. She paniced.....she freaked....she had herself a royal fit! She yelped...she screamed....she struggled....then she reversed tactics and just sat there. Head hung down....sad little eyes....convinced I was trying to drown her.....pathetic isn't it?? LOL That only lasted for about 30 seconds though. I think she may have been trying reverse psycology on me (smart little bugger isn't she?) and when she saw it wasn't working she went back to her panic mode. But I persevered...I kept scrubbing and rinsing until all the mud was gone...all the fleas (if there were any) were obliterated and the last tiny soap bubble had been rinsed down the drain. Kimi's impressions again: Don't you listen to her! This was attempted murder......death by drowning!! My sweet loving mommy tried to murderize me!! I just know it!!!!!! Oh poor poor me!!!!! I was drowning and no one cared...no one loved me enough to care.....oh where is my daddy when I need him??....(ok....being pathetic isn't working...let's try vocal again...) HELP ME!!!!!!! SOMEONE!!!!!! ANYONE!!!!!! HHEELLPPPP MMEE!!!!!! I am being killeded here! Murdered! Drowned!! Oh the Pain!! Oh the horrors!! Oh the....wait....the waters gone....mommy is drying me off....maybe?? maybe she DOES still love me?? Maybe I'm NOT dead yet??? Ooohhhh the rubbing towel feels good...ooh....ya...rub behind the other ear mommy, the water made me itch there....oh ya.... Mommies turn again..... Bath time was over and now the shimmy-shimmy-shakes begin. You'd think I had gone from trying to drown her to attempting to freeze her! LOL I tried to reassure her while scrubbing her that she was okay and that I loved her but I don't think she was listening to well. So much for having a water dog! I guess I had better leave that to my Newfies. Kimi...briefly: M..o..mm..yy...I..I...mmm...cc..oo..ll..dddd!!! Mommy again: Once I had gotten her dried off and set her down on the floor something happened. M My sweet, loving, gentle and kind Kimi disappeared. Oh, her furry little self was still standing there, but the insides switched and she became Taz...she growled she ran...she barked...she growled again.......she 'attacked' everything in sight ferociously. My poor kitchen towel that was on the floor will never be the same. It may need therapy! She grabbed it...shook it....growled at it...then dragged it off to the front room growling with every step. (Sybil...can Kimi come back to me now?) I made the 'fatal' error of walking in to the front room and laughed at her for the way she looked. She ran over and "Pounced" my foot! My poor bare skinned toes!! And when I pulled that foot away quickly, she 'turned' on the other one! After nipping it once and growling she ran to her stuffed 'lamby' on the floor. She gave it a fierce once over...rolled it brutally and turned to her little brown teddy. That poor little thing will probably have nighmares tonight! I take it Kimi was NOT a happy camper about her bath, or being laughed at? Geesh girl...what happened to your sense of humor?? Did it get rinsed down the drain to?? OUCH! Ok...ok...no more jokes!! Let's just go outside in the sun for awhile ok?? I took her outside and as the warm spring sun thawed her chilled little body and dried her soft downy puppy hair, her 'sunny' personality returned and she is once again my sweet and happy little camper. I sure hope bath time doesn't come very often for this little pint sized dynamo!
Kristi (dynamite DOES come in small packages! LOL)
