Steph's day off
Beach or bust So, a few blocks from our apartment is the interstate that goes all
the way to the beach, just stay on the road which in some cases is about like trying to
stay standing on a slippery log, you could find yourself in an exit lane and traffic that
won't let you over.
It took us about an hr to get to the ocean, and about an hr to park, well not
really but I found out why all the parking lots had little numbers on all the
parking spaces, little men in funny little suits park nice expensive cars in parking
spaces that have numbers on them, so back to the streets till we could find a place to
park. I know of "park and ride" but this was park and walk, and well I just
don't walk as far as I used to so we had a little look around, the water was way far away,
we could see it but there was to much sand between me and the water, so we walked around a
little looking at the huts along the beach front, far far away from the water. We were
trying to guess the market value of those huts, we supposed they were quite high and
wondered if the price for living next to the ocean with hoards of people all around you at
all times was worth the price.
Further on down the road we came upon a spot where we parked and then walked down about
100 steps to the ocean, I was amused to see a life guard shack and one of those
yellow pickups just like Bay Watch, so I had to take a picture of it, kept my eye out for
a bunch of those long legged skinny girls in the red swim suits, but didn't see any. The
water was about the same temperature as I remembered it to be at the swimming beaches at
the Royal Ocelevan dam, didn't bring the swim suits but waded along the beach trying to
guess if the tide was coming in or out, never did figure it out.
And don't really care.
Followed the roads that went along the ocean front
visited a view point for whale watching, witch starts Dec. 3 , Steph thought it would be
nice to come back and watch for whales, I though it would be nice to come back and watch
for red swim suits.
Further down the road we came to the "Port of Los Angles" , wow, lot bigger than
the port of Ephrata, Steph got real nervous about the neighborhood and was preying that
the car would stay running. Steph noticed that there were two bail bondsmen businesses
right accost the street from each other, she figured that those truck drivers must be
getting in to a lot of trouble, I thought it probably was more likely that it was the long
shore's men.
We eventually came upon a marine museum and decided to look around, and we did, it was
very interesting. One of the advantages of going to a place like a museum with Steph is
that she has to read everything, if it is in print she is attracted to it like a magnet,
so I get to listen and look while she reads, where I would just look if I was to go by
myself, now I get to know what I'm looking at and not just wonder. We looked at
"Stuff" till closing time and decided we were hungry and would look for some
place to eat, I thought I'd rather get "Out of town" where the food wouldn't be
so expensive, if I had thought about it there really isn't any out of town here ,
anywhere, but thinking the way I do we headed home with and eye out for some place to eat,
we got in traffic and well, by the time we could see anything but tail lights we were in
Corona (current home town) so Steph knew of a place beside the hospital where she works
that specializes in county cooking, so we took the last parking space (no numbers on this
parking space)
in the lot and went in and had better country style cooking and service than you can get
in the country and for $4.99 each. |
