Jane came to America with her parents in about 1857 (her parents obits say 1857, Jane's says 1858). They settled for a while in NY and came to Keokuk County, Iowa in 1867. Soon after coming to Iowa, she united with the Christian Church. Her obituary says she was ``stricken with heart failure'' near the home of her son Joseph. The Litzenberg book says ``while returning to their farm home during an electrical storm, Mrs. Mahannah died from a cerebral hemorrhage, induced from the shock by lightning. ''
