Clara became a member of the Christian (Disciples of Christ)
church at age 16. Clara enrolled at Drake
University the first day it opened. She met her husband there, and they
served together in the Christian ministry in the following places:
Ridgway, Mo. and Oakland, Iowa (1886-89), Henderson, Ia. (1889-90),
Melbourne, Ia. (1890-92), Prairie City, Ia. (1892-5)
Liscomb and Bethelgrove, Iowa (1895-8); and Gordon and Chadron,
Nebraska (1898-1906).
In 1906 they moved to Bethany, Nebraska to put their oldest son in college.
Benjamin did supply work and occasionally held a meeting for
a church. He also preached for a country church there for five years.
Mrs. Wilkinson was associated for years with the church at Bethany, NE
where she was missionary society president and teacher of the women's bible
class. In July of 1919 they moved to near Casper, Wyoming, where their sons
(Harold at least) had homesteaded northwest of Douglas.
Clara and Benjamin moved to Huntington Park, Ca. with their son
J.E. Wilkinson just before Benjamin died. She lived there
for her last 3 years before her death.
