Willard was in college at the time of his mother's death in 1917.
He was ordained as a minister in the Disciples of Christ Church in 1919.
He received an A.B. degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1920, and an MRE
from Boston University in 1923.
He was pastor at Mounds, OK, 1919-20; Caney, KS 1920-21; Malden, MS
1922-23; northwest regional director of christian education, 1923-26; assoc.
pastor University Church of Christ, Des Moines, 1926-30; pastor First
Christian Church, Maryville, MO 1930-36.
Willard was a minister and executive in the Disciples of Christ Church.
As noted in the July 16, 1947 issue of the Christian Evangelist, the D.D.
Degree was awarded to Willard by Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. At that
time he was secretary of the home missions division and had proposed new
programs and organization that would aid the local church in evangelism,
stewardship, worship, membership cultivation, social action, and effective
ministry.
He was also appointed as liason to represent the Disciples church in
planning the relationship to Army and Navy chaplains.
He wrote a book of sermons and lived in Indianapolis.
He was listed in ``Who's Who'' in 1940-41.
