Here's the story of how Lysander was killed from Dade Co., history:
There are two versions of just where he had been before returning
home. One has him at a poker game and the other isn't real
specific. As he was sitting at his table counting his money, a couple
of guys were watching him through the window. They then entered his
home and ended up killing him and taking his money. They threw his
body into an old well nearby then left to hide the money in a cave. An
old fisherman saw them, but couldn't figure out what they were
doing. Some years later when bones were discovered in the cave, (one
of the men went to get some money and got stuck) the law figured out
part of it and the fisherman came forward and filled in the rest of it.
