Unii's Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Page In Memory of Dr. Leslie W. Hauserman D.C.
My father, Dr. Leslie W. Hauserman, was diagnosed with Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease in February 2005. It has been a quick and painful ride for my father, and his family & friends.
My father passed away at 4:30 p.m. on May 4, 2005. He went with his brother (Jonathan), our Pastor (Rev. Robert Ferro Jr.), and myself present. I had placed my hand on his heart as he started rustling about, and told him it was ok to go now. He lifted his arms up to his chest, lowered them, began to gag a bit, and then let out a gasp. I felt his heart stop under my hand and his last breath on my cheek, as Pastor Ferro told him to go be with God.
I want to thank Linda Gregson, from the CJD HelpLine, as she has been a blessing from God throughout this. Many numerous thanks to all of the staff at HCR Manor Care North Olmsted in the Arcadia I unit. Most of them not only took care of my dad, most of them knew him from when my Oma (dad's mom) was a resident there (Sharon, Joann, Lucy, Bob, Bishop, Yolanda, Barb, Terri...all of you guys were fabulous with my dad!). Also, I would like to thank Heartland Hospice, they did everything they could to make sure daddy was comfortable in his last days, and they made sure to call me and make it a point to tell me that they thought it was his time. I will never forget these people. They were sent from God!
My father's funeral was Tuesday, May 10, 2005. If you would care to take a look at the funeral bulletin, please click here for Word Document Format. His interment was at West Park Cemetery, 3942 Ridge Road Cleveland, OH 44144, Veterans Section 29, Lot 7.
