Album: Brand New Day
A Prelude to the Millenium
A very futuristic song that foresees the good things for the year 2000? Maybe this song would become the anthem of the coming millenium. The lyrics are inspired, and the melody is as catchy as the summer breeze. The riffs are reminiscent of the Sting in The Dream of the Blue Turtles.
Also watch the video that goes with the song. Except for the detergent-like plug for the Brand New Day, Sting looked like a messiah with futuristic sense, but in the end he is shown tripping in the water proving that he is a mere mortal after all. [Canned laughter . . . here!]
Album: At the Movies
A very good companion to the Best of Sting and The Police
Listening to the tracks makes one reminisce the movies. Most of the songs contained in this album were lifted from the movie soundtracks, like "Demolition Man" starring Sylvester Stallone. It also included Sting's soulful rendition of "Someone to Watch Over Me" during the Academy Awards. If only Sting included his songs from his past movies it would truly be a complete collection.
