Sting narrates the fight of the Amazonian tribe, led by Chief Raoni, to save the Amazon rainforest against the denudation and pillage done by logging and mining industries. Jeanne-Pierre's superb and excellent photographs, in full nature color, improved the words hidden beneath the forest.
Hardcover / July 1996 / ISBN: 1857821254 / 48 pages The bestselling biographer of Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson now examines the life of Gordon Sumner, a.k.a. Sting, from his troubled boyhood marked by domestic turmoil to his rise to the top of the charts--first as lead singer of The Police, then as a respected and top-selling solo artist--along the way touching on his failure as a box-office star and his involvement in environmental activism. The book have been criticized a rumor-mongering compilation of hearsays from tabloid cuttings as well as liberally borrowing from previous published books about Sting.
Paperback / June 1996 / 112 pages This CD-size booklet published by Omnibus Press includes a brief history and a narrative of every song released by The Police including Sting's solo stint. There are also plenty of photographs including several in colour. The narrative for each track is, understandably, coloured by the author's view and it's obvious that he doesn't rate Stewart and Andy's songwriting talents too highly, but this aside the book is inexpensive and generally very good (and it fits perfectly next to your Police and Sting CD's!) and is excellent value for money.
