Season One

Welcome to Astrometrics Databank One-Alpha, your source for Voyager tidbits and bloopers. This ever growing guide will give you interesting facts that you may have never noticed before...like, did you notice a subtle change between season one and season two? Probably not. The tricorders and phasers were all updated, replacing the old design. (The most obvious of this is the Doc's tricorder...no big end-piece) This is just one of the many things that your eye may never see while watching, until now.

Episode One: "The Caretaker"

Bloopers:

  • As Janeway is about to destroy the array, B'Elanna pipes up and mentions something about being separated from their families. However, B'Elanna later mentions in "Eye of the Needle" that she really has no family. (sent in by David R)
  • After Voyager is catapulted to the Delta Quadrant, Janeway heads on down to Engineering to survey the damage. She rounds a corner in the corridor on deck 15 to go into Engineering, so we see her enter Engineering in the next shot. The problem is she enters from the turbo-lift. (sent in by Echo Boom)
  • At the very beginning as Paris' shuttle is approaching DS9, 1701-D can be seen written on the side of the shuttle (The Enterprises' registry)

  • Interesting Facts:

  • The Maquis ship interior is a re-dress of the Runabout Set of DS9
  • Voyager's hallways are a re-dress of TNG's hallways. In fact, Voyager's Sickbay is in the same spot as was TNG's Sickbay.
  • Voyager's warp core set is the same as the warp core scene in Star Trek I and II.
  • Voyager's original Doctor (Jeff McCarthy) played the role of Roga Danar on TNG's "The Hunted"

  • Episode Two: "Parallax"

    Bloopers:

  • None

  • Interesting Facts:

  • This episode showed a new, modified shuttle from those typically shown on TNG

  • Episode Three: "Time and Again"

    Bloopers:

  • The scenes where Janeway and Paris are outside at the end as they are being forced towards the power plant, you can see large, rectangular pieces of black felt on the pavement, obviously trying to cover up the broken centre line of a normal street. (At one point, one of the extras that fall, they bunch up the black material, making it VERY obvious)

  • Interesting Facts:

  • Notice Dennis Madalone playing the role of one of the security guards being shot. He is the stunt co-ordinator on all three Star Trek shows. He makes many appearances in Voyager episode, as an alien being injured, or a Starfleet Ensign being injured.
  • The location used for filming is the same place used to film TNG's "The First Duty" and "Justice". It's the Tillman Water Reclamation Plant in Van Nuys.

  • Episode Four: "Phage"

    Bloopers:

  • None.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • The hallway set seen at the very beginning on the Vidiian planet was the same hallway set scene in the power plant in "Time and Again"

  • Episode Five: "The Cloud"

  • It wasn't until "Message in a Bottle" that the crew discovered that their messages were never delivered by the Romulans.

  • Episode Seven: "Ex Post Facto"

    Bloopers:

  • None

  • Interesting Facts:

  • The alien ships are re-dresses of previous used models in both TNG and VOY.

  • Episode Eight: "Emanations"

    Bloopers:

  • After the young woman is transported back to the ship, dead, covered in that white stuff, you can see as she begins to fall the white covering fall off as Janeway grabs her, so you can see that the white covering isn't all over her body, just on the front of her body for the cameras sake.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • This would be the first of many "afterlife" shows that will be seen on Voyager...in this episode, Janeway makes a clear statement, hinting at the existance of an afterlife.
  • Yet another Star Trek episode where a main character is brought back to life.

  • Episode Nine: "Prime Factors"

    Bloopers:

  • It's interesting to note that the Starfleet case that Tuvok uses to bring back the device, the foam inside the case is perfectly 'designed' for the device.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • This episode marks the beginning for Seska to be a recurring character (she actually has a few lines in this one)
  • Tuvok was demoted for his actions in this episode, to Lieutenant Junior grade.
  • The sets used for the town square are the typical alien city sets which are used and re-dressed in various Star Trek reincarnations.

  • None

  • Interesting Facts:

  • The outdoor location used for this episode will be used in other Voyager episodes, including "The 37's". Also, the cave that Chakotay enters from the exterior is the same cave that Picard and Beverly left from in "Attached"

    Bloopers:

  • None

  • Interesting Facts:

  • Marks the first time Voyager ejected their warpcore, although it wasn't seen on screen until "Day of Honour".
  • A phaser fires a multi-beam which takes out the entire Bridge crew. This feature of the phasers haven't been seen since, but would have surely helped in other episodes, although it was never used.

  • Episode Thirteen: "Faces"

    Bloopers:

  • None

  • Interesting Facts:

  • This episode allowed for fans to see what Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna) looks like without her Klingon make-up on.
  • The famous Star Trek cave sets are seen once again.

    Bloopers:

  • None

  • Interesting Facts:

  • The Doctor is given the ability to turn himself off in this one.

  • Episode Fiveteen: "Learning Curve"

    Bloopers:

  • As Tuvok grabs the glass of water from the Bolian, he spills over half of it as he puts it down.
  • As the Bolian runs his laps around the Cargo Bay, the continuity is slightly off (one second he's there, the next he's gone, then he's back)

  • Interesting Facts:

  • Some of you may find this interesting, but the Bolian is played by the Doctor from "My Secret Identity"
  • This episode showed the Gel Packs for the first time.
  • This episode also featured the corniest line in Voyager yet, "Get the Cheese to Sickbay"

  • End of Season Notes:

  • Although only fifteen episode were aired this season, four episodes from this season were held over to be aired next season.
  • Notice that the Tricorders and Phasers are now going to be updated, since they were updated in DS9 as well. I think the producers were hoping we'd miss this one. Of course it is really noticeable next season when new episodes from season two show the new tricorders one week ("Initiations") and then the old tricorders from a season one holdover episode ("Twisted") the next week.
  • One of the sets which are going to modified slightly from season one to season two is the Officer's Briefing Room. The subtle change is that on one of the walls next to the windows, a pattern is now going to appear.
