Season Five

Welcome to Astrometrics Databank One-Alpha, your source for Voyager tidbits and bloopers. This ever growing guide will give you interesting facts that you may have never noticed before...like, did you notice a subtle change between season one and season two? Probably not. The tricorders and phasers were all updated, replacing the old design. (The most obvious of this is the Doc's tricorder...no big end-piece) This is just one of the many things that your eye may never see while watching, until now.

  • Voyager uses the wormhole in the Void to get two years closer to home.
  • Captain Janeway really begins to show the guilt she feels for getting the crew stranded in the Delta Quadrant.

  • The interior of the Borg sphere is the same matte painting as used in "First Contact".
  • Another shuttle bites the dust.

  • None.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • B'Elanna wears the orbital diving suit that Kirk wore in the cut scenes from "Generations".
  • The Delta Flyer is built.  The name is a combination of Delta Quadrant and Radio Flyer (a popular kids' wagon manufacturer).
  • We learn that the demise of the Maquis has severely affected B'Elanna.

  • The Flotter and Trevis program seems to be a fairly popular childrens program (perhaps the equivalent of Barney??)

  • "Timeless"

    Bloopers:

  • If you look very carefully, you can see the plastic covering put over the floors of the sets so that the wax (snow) wouldn't destroy the carpet, etc..., particularly on the Bridge Sets.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • We see some amazing effects of Voyager crashing on a planet.  Neat.
  • Levar Burton is the third TNG character to make a crossover to Voyager (other two are Riker and Troi).
  • Voyager's 100th episode.
  • Voyager uses the slipstream to get ten years closer to home.

  • "Infinite Regress"

    Bloopers:

  • None.

  • "Nothing Human"

    Bloopers:

    None

    Interesting Facts:

  • We learn that one of the 47 Alpha Quadrant physicians that make up the EMH is a Cardassian exobiologist, a Dr. Macet, that gained medical knowledge through some pretty extreme methods.

  • "Thirty Days"

    Bloopers:

  • None.

  • Tom is demoted to the rank of Ensign.

  • The infamous Delaney Sisters make their debut.

  • "Counterpoint"

  • Janeway has another botched romance.

  • "Latent Image"

    Bloopers:

  • It is amusing how the CGI of both Harry Kim and the Captain being recreated by the holoimagers go right from a muscle layer to clothing...oh yes, I forget that this is a PG show, not XXX.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • Ensign Jetal had never been seen in any other episodes before.

  • "Bride of Chaotica!"

    Bloopers:

  • None.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • The bridge had very little to do with this episode...why?  Voyager's bridge set had been recently destroyed by fire, so instead of waiting for the set to be completely rebuilt, they had a Holodeck centered episode.
  • The Chaotica program is seen for the last time.
  • One of the only Star Trek episodes to have an exclamation mark in the title.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • The alien encountered is played by W. Morgan Shepard, who also played the prison master in "The Undiscovered Country", as well as Dr. Ira Graves in TNG's "The Schizoid Man".
  • Tuvok's wife is seen again, this time played by a different actress.

  • "Dark Frontier"

    Bloopers:

  • The shots on board the Borg Sphere during the training simulation and during the real event are almost the same.  Look for one scene while they are really on board the Borg Sphere where you cannot see the arm-band on Janeway.
  • When Seven is about to enter the Borg Queen's chamber, you can see the shadow of the camera on her back.
  • Don't let me get started on the inconsistencies in the Raven aspect of the story:  Firstly, the Hansen's should not have known about the Borg before their departure...the Borg were not encountered until the TNG second season episode, "Q Who".  As well, it was previously established in other episodes that Seven was celebrating her birthday when she was assimilated, but this is not seen in this episode.  As well, at one point the Raven is travelling at warp, yet the window in Naomi's quarters show a still starfield.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • Alice Krige was unable to return to do the Borg Queen due to scheduling difficulties.  Thus, the produces hired Susanna Thompson, who previously played as one of Dax's hosts former wives.
  • The actors who play the Hansen family are different than those seen in "Raven" and "Scorpion II".
  • A new style of Borg vessel is seen:  A borg rectangle and the Borg Diamond.  They sure do like those shapes!
  • The central matrix of the Borg Collective is seen for the first time.
  • Voyager uses the Borg transwarp conduits to get 15 years closer to home.

  • The Disease

    Bloopers:

  • Interesting Facts:

  • None.

  • "Course:  Oblivion"

    Bloopers:

  • None.

  • Torres and Paris tie the knot (at least the duplicates do anyway).
  • The duplicate crew were able to make a warp core capable of getting them home in a matter of months.

  • We see a sonic shower in action for the first time.
  • B'Elanna continues to struggle with her Klingon self.

  • None.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • Sandrine's is seen for the first time since season two.

  • "11:59"

    Bloopers:

  • None.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • We learn about Janeway's past ancestry:  Shannon O'Donnell.
  • The exterior shots of Portage Creek were filmed on Paramount's lot.  The Budget must have been small, as most the cars seen were quite old pieces of junk.
  • The crew creates a new holiday:  Ancestors Eve.
  • We learn that Harry's ancestors were the first humans to travel deep space.

  • "Relativity"

    Bloopers:

  • Captain Braxton is played by a different actor this time.

  • Interesting Facts:

  • A confusing time travel episode, where we get to see Voyager at Utopia Planitia yards.
  • Captain Braxton returns, and we see that the future does a little time patrolling to correct errors in the timeline.
  • The Kazon are seen again.

  • "Warhead"

    Bloopers:

  • None

  • MacKenzie Westmore, who played Ensign Jenkins, was up for the role as Ezri Dax in DS9.  She is the daughter of Star Trek alien make-up designer, Michael Westmore.  (wonder who helped her get this gig...guess it helps to be able to pull a few strings).
