Season Four
Welcome to Astrometrics Databank One-Alpha,
your source for Voyager tidbits and bloopers. This ever growing guide will
give you interesting facts that you may have never noticed before...like,
did you notice a subtle change between season one and season two? Probably
not. The tricorders and phasers were all updated, replacing the old design.
(The most obvious of this is the Doc's tricorder...no big end-piece) This
is just one of the many things that your eye may never see while watching,
until now.

Episode Sixty-Eight: "Scorpion pt.II"
Bloopers:
When Harry returns to the Bridge after
being cured, it shows a shot of the viewscreen with still stars on it.
At the time, Voyager was at warp behind the Borg, so this should be seen
on the screen. (sent in by Al)
The proposed schematic of the Borg photon
torpedo (the one Seven shows the Captain) is the same as the Borg ship
seen in TNG's "Descent pt.I and II".
After the decompression of the Cargo Bay,
and before it is repressurized, Chakotay talks to Seven by the Comm channel.
This is impossible, since a vacuum would have existed within the Cargo
Bay. (sent in by Jimmy Jam)
Seven of Nine refers to herself as I,
and then sometimes we...just a slight discrephancy. (I've been corrected
on this...Janeway had Seven 'severed' from the collective, so perhaps that
is why she referred to herself as "I")
Interesting Facts:
As mentioned in the end of season review
above, Kes' replacement was introduced in this episode...'Seven of Nine'
played by Jeri Ryan, last seen on the short-lived series, "Dark Skies".
Although we had just met 8472, they were
gone as quick as they came in this episode.
There was originally supposed to be a
comment by Seven on why 8472 were able to have such a rampage on the Borg
so easily...the reason was the demise of the Borg Queen (in 'First Contact'),
but it was removed since Brannon Braga thought that there was the possibility
that some people hadn't seen the movie and would be confused...I think
that number would be very, very small)
Although they were able to make it out
alive, this episode marked a strong rift that divided Chakotay and Janeway,
leading to high tensions among the two.
Episode Sixty-Nine: "The Gift"
Bloopers:
When Kes and Janeway are running down
the corridor to get to the Shuttlebay, Janeway hits her combadge to hail
the Bridge. In doing so, she knocks her Comm-Badge off-kelter. (sent in
by KJaneway45)
As Janeway is leaving the Cargo Bay at
the end, she stops a beat before Seven says "red".
Interesting Facts:
Kes' swan song...this was the episode
that saw her leave, and she did so with grace, and also with the opportunity
to return as a guest star.
We learn that Annika Hansen (Seven of
Nine) was born on stardate 25479
The Hansens were last scene leaving a
distant outpost in the Omega sector on board the Raven.
Kes' gift to the crew was warping them
10 years closer to home.
We learn Seven's favourite colour as a
child was red.
The majority of Seven's implants were
removed in this episode, making her look, very human (and I mean human.
;)
Marked the second time that Kes inadvertadely
injured Neelix with her telepathic abilities.
Kes left in a shuttle that disappeared
when she disappeared...mark down another one that was destroyed/lost.
Episode Seventy: "Day of Honour"
Bloopers:
At the end, the oxygen levels are lower
than when Tom began to hyperventilate at the beginning of the episode,
but this time, they are able to talk and seem alright. (sent in by Sonia)
Interesting Facts:
Marked the first time that we are shown
Voyager ejecting their warpcore.
The EVA suits worn by B'Elanna and Tom
were the ones from First Contact...
In one scene, B'Elanna talks about the
zero-g training making her sick at the Academy. Then Paris has a pick-up
line about making 'first contact'. Sounds like the producers are hinting
at Star Trek: First Contact (B'Elanna's line is A LOT like Worf' s in the
film). (sent in by Annorax)
There are fans inside the suits to keep
the masks from fogging up.
Robert (Tom) wore the same suit that Worf
wore in 'First Contact'.
Roxann (B'Elanna) was pregnant at the
time of the shoot.
This episode marked the first time that
B'Elanna admitted her feelings to Tom.
Yet another shuttle is destroyed.
Episode Seventy-One: "Nemesis"
Bloopers:
This area is past Neelix's area of expertise,
yet he still knows the planet is a violent one. (note from the Maj: He
might have been talking to locals in the area) (sent in by Mark)
Interesting Facts:
Scenes from this episode were shot on
Warner Ranch.
Originally titled, "Recruit".
You got it, another shuttle destroyed...that's
three in a row.
Filmed before "Day of Honour", but aired
afterwards for some reason.
Episode Seventy-Two: "Revulsion"
Bloopers:
None
Interesting Facts:
Tuvok was promoted in this episode all
the way to Lieutenant Commander.
Originally title, "Delirium".
We learn that Janeway has known Tuvok
for over nine years.
Leland Orser, who played the crazy hologram,
played the Changeling Romulan in DS9's "The Die is Cast".
Leland Orser also played Gai in DS9's,
"Sanctuary". (sent in by Shine)
First time Voyager has encountered a 'sentient'
hologram like the Doc.
Episode Seventy-Three: "The Raven"
Bloopers:
Seven calls Tuvok 'Lieutenant' at one
point, although he had been promoted the episode before. (sent in by Kieram
Kobitz)
The exterior design of Seven's shuttle
keeps changing...one moment it is the old style Shuttle (like TNG), then
it's the new Voyager style! (sent in by Speck)
'The Raven' took multiple weapon hits,
yet it wasn't instantly destroyed.
Interesting Facts:
Seven's parents are seen once again (seen
the first time in visions in "Scorpion")
We learn that the Borg consider the Talaxians
(Neelix's race) Species 218, whereas the Vulcans are known as Species 3259.
We also learn that the armoury on board
Voyager is on Deck 6.
Originally titled, "Resurrection".
That marks the second time that someone
has phasered the shuttlebay door (the other time occured in "False Profits")
Episode Seventy-Four: "Scientific Method"
Bloopers:
Seven orders the turbolift to take her
to Deck 5, but she ends up going to the Mess Hall, which is on Deck 2.
(sent in by Brian Michael Scully)
When the Doc and B'Elanna are examining
the DNA, she says she is no 'microbiologist'...but a 'molecular biologist'
studies DNA, a 'microbiologist' studies things too small to be seen by
the naked eye (like bacteria). (sent in by Christine)
Interesting Facts:
Originally titled 'Tagged'.
We learn that there are 257 rooms on Voyager.
Another title thrown around was 'Ghosts'.
(sent in by: QueenofDeath)
Episode Seventy-Five: "Year of Hell,
pt.I"
Bloopers:
When Seven is watching as Tuvok shaves,
she calls him Lieutenant, but he is Lieutenant Commander...she should have
referred to him as Commander (they always referred to Data as Commander,
even though he was Lieutenant Commander) (sent in by: Koko's Blues Machine)
The visual of the lift stuck in the turboshaft
is from TNG's "Disaster". The problem is that it shows the lift doors as
being orange (the colour they were aboard the Enterprise), but the lift
doors on board Voyager are dark grey.
When Janeway and Chakotay are talking
in her Ready Room, she picks up her damaged computer and places it on her
desk, screen side facing Chakotay. Then it shows her clearing debris off
her desk, and then a quick shot of Chakotay...in the next shot of Janeway,
the direction the computer is facing has now changed (the screen is now
facing towards Janeway).
No mention of Kes' experiences with the
Krenim...however, this could be the result of the altered timeline, and
the fact that Kes wasn't on board when they encountered the Krenim. Who
knows.
Interesting Facts:
This is apparently the season finale that
was to air last year, in place of 'Scorpion'.
We learn that there are two Brigs on board
Voyager.
The torpedoe that Seven investigates was
the same one that Kes investigated in "Before and After".
Neelix's line about the security message
is a reference to "Lost in Space" with "Danger, Danger..."
Kes' warning was originally included in
this episode (a scene was filmed) but ended up being cut.
The emergency lifepods (escape pods) are
seen being ejected for the first time on Voyager.
Astrometrics is shown for the first time
(the new set for season four)
Annorax was played by Kurtwood Smith who
was last scene as Thrax in DS9's "Things Past", and also the Federation
president in Star Trek 6.
Episode Seventy-Six: "Year of Hell,
pt.II"
Bloopers:
None
Interesting Facts:
The CGI special effects for this episode
were produced by the same company which produced the effects for Species
8472.
Episode Seventy-Seven: "Random Thoughts"
Bloopers:
Tuvok is said to have full telepathic
abilities. Not true. Vulcan's have the most basic of telepathic abilites
(they are touch telepaths). (sent in by Karen)
Interesting Facts:
Starred Gwynyth Walsh, who Star Trek fans
will know as B'Etor (Lursa and B'Etor) from Star Trek : TNG.
Tuvok's dream sequences contained footage
from various movies and other Paramount programs, including footage from
"Event Horizon" and Star Trek Generations.
Episode Seventy-Eight: "Concerning
Flight"
Bloopers:
None
Interesting Facts:
John Rhys-Davies from 'Sliders' returns
once again as DaVinci.
Originally titled, "DaVinci's Day Out"
Majority of the sequences were filmed
on a ranch in Chatsworth.
Episode Seventy-Nine: "Mortal Coil"
Bloopers:
Janeway refers to Neelix's being dead
for so long as a world record...it probably should be a Starfleet record.
(sent in by Jessi)
Well, wasn't Naomi looking quite old for
someone who was born only two years ago...but, the producers were quick
to add dialogue by Wildman which referred to the fact of her accelerated
growth.
Interesting Facts:
Ensign Wildman is finally seen again,
along with her daughter who finally received a name...'Naomi'.
Neelix's sister, Alixia is seen for the
first time in his dream sequences.
The Talaxian ceremony of the celebration
of family is known as Prixin.
Apparently, in "Basics" when the volcanoes
are erupting, the alien chief shouts 'Naomi'...which later became her name.
(sent in by XLanna)
We learn that according to Talaxian afterlife,
the first place one arrives to is the great tree in the great forest. There,
your deceased relatives will be waiting for you.
An episode where yet another of Voyager's
crew questions the afterlife...this time, Neelix is not sure.
Another one of Voyager's main characters
died in this episode, but only for a short while. Neelix died, but was
quickly revived using Seven of Nine's nanoprobes.
Episode Eighty: "Waking Moments"
Bloopers:
As B'Elanna runs out of Engineering, the
flap on her smock opens to reveal a very pregnant belly. (sent in by Muffy)
If the effect wore off the further they
got away from the alien planet, why didn't they just warp away?
Interesting Facts:
Originally titled, "Sleep of Reason".
Once again, Chakotay's mental abilities
are used as a plot element.
B'Elanna receives a new uniform to help
cover up her pregnancy.
Apparently, although not confirmed, a
Janeway/Chakotay kiss was cut (from the dream sequence).
The first time any of the officers appeared
on the Bridge, "out of uniform"...;)
Episode Eighty-One: "Message in a Bottle"
Bloopers:
At one point, the Nebula class ship fires
phasers at warp...ships cannot fire phasers at warp according to previous
Star Trek episodes. (sent in by Sig)
Using the Omnipedia as a reference to
the Astrometric diagram, the Prometheus is actually in the Beta Quadrant.
(sent in by )
When the security team beams aboard the
Prometheus at the end, they shouldn't be able to breathe since the Holodocs
had deactivated lifesupport. (sent in by Erik)
When the Mark II gasses the Romulans,
the female Romulans fall (after he pushes her from the console) is very
fake, as the actress breaks her own fall, and then settles in a more comfortable
position. (sent in by Jon Lammert)
Interesting Facts:
The first 'real' contact with the Alpha
Quadrant in four years.
Judson Scott (who played the Romulan Commander)
also played Khan's side man, Joachim, in Star Trek II.
The design of the Prometheus is actually
similar to designs that were proposed for the design of Voyager.
Images seen in Astrometrics are images
taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. (sent in by Janice)
The first time the new bad guys are introduced,
the Hirogen.
Andy Dick is a 'Trekkie', and also a friend
of Robert Picardo. (sent in by Dewey)
The USS Prometheus is shown, and prototype
ship that can separate into three pieces to go into multi-assault mode.
Each piece of the ship was equipped with Warp Drive capabilities.
Although the new Sickbay is new, many
of the pieces of it are pieces of Voyager's sickbay (like the observance
bed) that are simply re-dressed (painted a different colour).
Episode Eighty-Two: "Hunters"
Bloopers:
When the Hirogen ships approaches, Harry
immeadiately identifies it as Hirogen. Curious, how could he know that
since this is the first time they have encountered a Hirogen ship?
Interesting Facts:
The first time the Hirogen are really
shown. We learn that they are hunters who live for the hunt.
Voyager makes contact with home again.
Numerous numbers of the crew receive messages from loved ones, including
Janeway who receives a message from Mark (her fiancee) telling her that
he has moved on with his life. Chakotay is informed of the Maquis's destruction.
And Tuvok learns he is a grandfather.
The communication relays the crew uses
to communicate with are destroyed.
The special effect of Voyager flying by
the green nebula is stock footage taken from the episode, "Deadlock".
Episode Eighty-Three: "Prey"
Bloopers:
8472 is able to pass through Voyager's
shields, but not through a force field. (sent in by: MJK)
After the Hirogen escapes from Sickbay,
he has a Starfleet weapon. Yet, when he is attacking Species 8472 (the
hand to hand combat scene) his weapon changes in one scene from Starfleet
disruptor to Hirogen disruptor, and then back to Starfleet. ( sent in by
Payne)
In Engineering, after 8472 has attacked
B'Elanna, Janeway goes to call Tuvok. She begins to say "Janeway to Tuvok"
even before she taps her COMM badge. (sent in by 17 of 25)
Interesting Facts:
Tony Todd plays the Hirogen. He has also
played such roles on Star Trek as Worf's brother Kurn on DS9 and TNG.
We learn some more about Janeway's past--she
was assigned to help defend a Starfleet outpost from Cardassians as a Lieutenant.
Tuvok's telepathic visions come from footage
seen in "Scorpion".
Episode Eighty-Four: "Retrospect"
Bloopers:
The shots of the interior of Kovan's ship
when he appears on the viewscreen, are actually the same interior set used
for the Starfleet timeship in "Future's End".
Interesting Facts:
Doc adds some more subroutines to his
program to allow for his to become sort of a ships counselor.
The design of the exterior of Kovan's
ship is the same as a merchant ship seen in DS9's "The Die is Cast".
Michael Horton who played Kovan is the
same actor who played one of the security guards in "Star Trek: First Contact"...he's
the one that informs Worf how far the Borg have advanced.
Episode Eighty-Five: "The Killing Game
part I"
Bloopers:
The Hirogen holds a gun up to the Doc,
but the Doc is a hologram, and wouldn't be affected. (he also had told
another Hirogen he couldn't be beaten, etc...) (sent in by Judy. S)
When Seven sings, sometimes her lips are
out of synch with the words. (sent in by: KJaneway45)
Interesting Facts:
Apparently, one of the most expensive
Voyager episodes ever made.
Filmed on the Universal lot.
Really makes you question why Starfleet
engineers made Holodecks which have the ability to de-activate the safeties.
(sent in by Terry P)
Jeri Ryan, who plays Seven, really recorded
her voice for this episode, but when they show this scene in the episode,
she is only lip-synching to her previous recorded words.
Star Trek visits yet another historical
point in human history--World War II.
Aired the same night as part two.
First time they really show us Roxann
Dawson's pregnancy.
Episode Eighty-Six: "The Killing Game
part II"
Bloopers:
When the Hirogen are ordered to withdraw,
he begins to point at a map to tell the others where to position themselves,
but no one is looking.
This may have happened in part I, but
when Harry is working on the computer, and he sends an Ensign to go and
get something from Engineering. The Hirogen goes with the Ensign, and the
Hirogen trips as he walks away. (sent in by HC)
After the Holodeck overloads, we shouldn't
be able to see B'Elanna's pregnant stomach anymore since it was a holographic
re-creation. Furthermore, the surroundings of St. Claire should have also
disappeared, leaving us looking at the Holodeck grid. (sent in by: James,
Grilka and Hac)
Their should have been no explosion in
Sickbay since the explosives were holographic, and their shouldn't be any
holo-emitters in the Jefferies tubes. That would make no sense. (sent in
by: Hac)
Interesting Facts:
The device that Janeway gives the Hirogen
at the end is the same device that Picard and crew used to trap Moriarty
and his fiancee in "Ship in a Bottle".
Episode Eighty-Seven: "Vis a Vis"
Bloopers:
OK...here comes the typical Holodeck mistakes.
Tom is working on a Holograph car, and presumably, gets holographic grease
on his overalls. He then goes to Bridge, with his non-holographic overalls,
which are still covered in holographic grease. Hmm .
After Tom mentions the co-axial warp drive,
Chakotay goes "Co-axial what?" Come on Chakotay. I can understand confusion
with the term 'co-axial', but 'warp-drive'?! Get with it!
Harry mentions that he plays golf with
Ensign Kaplan. The blooper here is that Ensign Kaplan died in "Unity".
(sent in by Cynthia May, Arses)
Another Holodeck inconsistency...the Doc
appears on the Holodeck at the beginning with tricorder in hand. (it is
most likely holographic, however, and should still function). (sent in
by Graeme)
Interesting Facts:
Tom's love for classic cars surfaces again
in this episode, as he tends to a 1969 Camaro.
We learn that when Tom was 16, he crashed
his father's Shuttlecraft into Lake Tahoe.
Tom refers to B'Elanna as his girlfriend
for the first time.
Co-axial warp drive is first mentioned,
and Voyager now has a shuttle equipped with it. However, it most unlikely
we will ever hear of it again.
Episode Eighty-Eight: "Omega Directive"
Bloopers:
Although the Captain calls a meeting of
the senior staff, B'Elanna isn't present, and her absence isn't explained.
(this is when Roxann Dawson had her baby) (sent in by Sonia)
When recording her log, Jeri Ryan (Seven)
inadvertadly switches the first two numbers of the stardate. This must
have been missed by the crew. (sent in by Lizard, Jon, Grygier7)
Interesting Facts:
The Borg consider the Omega particle to
be perfect, and also a valuable energy source.
The Doc gets Seven to read "A Christmas
Carol" by Charles Dickens.
Episode Eighty-Nine: "Unforgettable"
Bloopers:
At the beginning of the episode, it is
stated that the Doc can't scan the alien woman. Yet, after she gets zapped
by the Tracer, we see him in Sickbay scanning her with a Tricorder. (sent
in by WSG)
Interesting Facts:
A Chakotay romance.
We see Chakotay using pen and paper to
write down his experiences before he forgets them.
Episode Ninety: "Living Witness"
Bloopers:
Not exactly a blooper, but the picture
of the Doc at the very end of the episode (the one where is shows him folding
his arms and in a corridor aboard Voyager) is really one of the Paramount
publicity pictures for season four.
The massive Voyager schematic at the back
of the Bridge does not reflect the new changes to the ship (the new phaser
canons).
Interesting Facts:
The Doc awakens 700 years in the future
to find a race that mis-represented Voyager's effect on their planet.
We see a Kazon for the first time since
"Basics, pt.II"
Jeri Ryan once again wore full Borg make-up
for this episode.
We learn that the Doc has a backup module.
Episode Ninety-One: "Demon"
Bloopers:
None
Interesting Facts:
The EVA suits from "First Contact" are
seen once again.
Voyager enters "Grey" mode in order to
conserve energy.
Voyager lands on the Demon class, or "Y"
class planet to collect Deuterium, which is used for fuel.
A large chunk of the crew are duplicated
to start a new race on the Demon planet.
Episode Ninety-Two: "One"
Bloopers:
When Seven is first alone, it shows her
going to the Mess Hall as part of her daily routine. As the doors open,
we can clearly see the plain starfield in the widow. (it should show the
Mutara nebula)
When the Doctor's program fails in Engineering,
we don't see his holo-emitter fall off. (sent in by Vincent N)
Interesting Facts:
We learn that Harry Kim was born in South
Carolina (although the script originally called for New Mexico)
Harry's favourite sport is Volleyball.
The stasis chambers were located on deck
fourteen on Voyager.
We learn that Tom is slightly claustrophobic.
Seven must be in command of Voyager while
travelling through the Mutara Nebula.
This episode is considered to by Jeri
Taylor's "swan song" since this is the last episode she wrote before she
retired at the end of the season.
Episode Ninety-Three: "Hope and Fear"
Bloopers:
When Janeway appears on the Bridge of
the Dauntless to interogate Arturis, the control panel on the back left
of the Bridge has already changed to the design of an alien console (before
Arturis has pulled the switch to deactive the holograms which were projecting
the Starfleet console displays.)
When in the Engire Room on the Dauntless,
it shows a shot of a console, yet it has changed to reflect the fact that
Arturis has deactivated the particle synthesis device which was projecting
the illusion of Starfleet consoles. (sent in by Trek19)
Interesting Facts:
Admiral Hayes appeared in "First Contact",
and was assumed to be dead...he most likely escaped in an escape pod or
something when his ship was destroyed in First Contact.
Arturis was played by Ray Wise, who last
appeared in TNG's "Who Watches the Watchers"
Seven smiles for the first time. (sent
in by Ludwik S)
We see a new game called "Velocity" being
played on the Holodeck by Seven and the Captain.
The Starfleet message is finally de-coded...it
was simply a series of maps and a message from Hayes saying that Starfleet
can't help them.
The slipstream warp drive helped get the
crew a couple of months closer to home before it deactivated.
Seven is going to continue to work
on the slipstream technology to see if she can allow for a safe way for
Voyager to use it.
