"Sideshow" is rather unusual for something directed by Fred Olen Ray and for something produced by the folks at Full Moon. It is rather serious and practically free of nudity, which is something that can't be said for Fred Olen Ray's other works, such as "Evil Toons". Also, for a Full Moon picture, "Sideshow" is surprisingly decent compared to some of their other products like "Shrieker" and "Puppet Master 7: Retro Puppetmaster". Thanks to a good amount of suspense, an interesting variety of freaks, and an energetic performance by dwarf actor Phil Fondacaro, this movie is a few notches above the typical Full Moon picture. That isn't to say it is a masterpiece, by any means. The acting from the rest of the cast is lacking, and the story ends more with a whimper than a bang. However, aside from those carps, "Sideshow" isn't too bad. |

** NOTE: The more dots on the domino, the better the movie. If it's a DVD with a rating of 3 dots or less, you might as well consider it to be a Deadly Venereal Disease instead of a Digital Video Disk. ** |
