AGAPE MINISTRY 1996

The Lord has been good and faithful to the ministry. Our hearts are excited as we see God working in the lives of people in the ministry and the young people that we have met along the way. If I could sum up the year with just one word, it would be 'anointed'. The anointing of the Lord has truly been upon all of us and all of the concerts we had throughout the year.
We have decided to identify the ministry now as The Agape Ministry as our emphasis from the very beginning, is to share the good news and the love of God through music. The ministry has grown tremendously with about 45 people serving in the team now. There are also plans to start a 3rd team from another church who will be working closely with the Agape Ministry. The objective is to divert these young people's energy into something worthwhile and for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ. |

The support of the church and certain individuals has been such a great encouragement to the ministry and we thank the Lord for these people. This has also encouraged us to further serve the Lord with all our hearts knowing well we are always being uphold by people who believe in us and the work that we do. Praise be to God our Father.
There is so much to thank the Lord for as we look back at all the concert we had in 1996. The year started off with our first concert for the year in Muar. We had the privilege of ministering in Muar Emmanuel Church. The hospitality there was really something to remember. One soul was saved for Jesus and about 25 young people rededicated their lives to the Lord. |

Later on in May, we went over to SS1 EFC. It was a time of high praise and worship as we joined the members there in lifting the name of Jesus. The presence of the Lord was with us. In the same month, we had the opportunity to be invited to minister to the youth in the National Youth Convention at DUMC. We also conducted some workshops during the convention. It was truly a blessed time as we managed to fellowship with youth from all walks of life. We managed also to squeeze it some time for a 4-week music workshop which ended in June. The result of it was encouraging. The musicians who participated in the workshop were refreshed in many ways as we shared our ideas and techniques in playing our best for the Lord.
The second half the year was very exciting as we see God's anointing and the Holy Spirit convicting hearts in our concerts. We travelled up north to Ipoh in July to minister to the congregation in Ipoh Elim Gospel Hall. It was a great experience being able to play loud music in a Gospel Hall church. The flawless concert saw 2 souls saved for Jesus. The youth there were very much encouraged and challenged to use their gifts to serve the Lord (as many of them are musically talented). We were very much encouraged ourselves by the Lord's presence in the concert and by a very special friend to the ministry name Michelle. |

Michelle came to the concert with a hearing disability since childbirth. That didn't stop her from worshipping God. She came up to all of us and told how much the Lord had ministered to her through the songs and the testimonies we share. Our hearts were overjoyed knowing that God works in special ways. One of our members commented: "most of us hear the birds of the air sing, but Michelle hears them fly". Truly, the essence of it all is where the heart is.
In the same month, we had our very first concert in a public place - St. Mary School. The enthusiasm and joy that these students had was enough to rumble the city of KL. |
We share their excitement for Jesus and the concert lasted for 3 solid hours. At the end of it all, 14 souls were saved for Jesus and about 45 rededicated their lives back to the Lord. We stand in awe in the presence of the most Holy God. The year ended with 2 more concerts. One in PJEFC - Our annual concert in church which marked our new theme for 1997 entitled "More To This Life". | |

The other one was held in Scripture Union's Teen Evangelistic Camp in Ipoh Wesley Methodist Church. We stayed over with the campers and the time spent with them was a blessed one. It has always been our encouragement to see young people making a stand for Jesus. All Glory to God. |
Truly, there is more to this life. We want to make a difference in our lives wherever we may be. Our prayer is that we would see more people coming to know the Lord in a special through the outreach of the ministry. We thank our Heavenly Father for carrying us through thus far and we thank our advisors who has been our constant guide (especially Ps. Aaron Tham and Irene Lee) and we thank all of those who has support the ministry in one way or another. We are looking forward to another blessed year where we will be constantly use by God to bring forth the good news of Jesus Christ.
