CANADIAN FORCES BASE WINNIPEG
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA
Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba (population 750,000), 65 miles north of the US-Canada border. The base is located within the city limits of Winnipeg at two sites: North Base is on the south side of the international airport and about five miles west of downtown Winnipeg: South Base is on the south side of the Assinboine River, about 3 miles from North Base. The north site houses the Wing Headquarters, flightline operations, the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Studies, the Central Flying School, the Canadian Forces Navigation School and 1 Canadian Air Division
(1 CAD). RCAF Winnipeg opened in 1925, one of Canada's first Air Force
bases, and served as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan during
WWII.
CFB Winnipeg is home to
