Greetings,
Don't quite know where to start with this request but here goes.
Always wanted to know more about my dads military days but he was always reluctant to talk much about it. He was enlisted in the US Army Air Corp at the outbreak of hostilities with Japan. Dad's been gone now 20 years and mom passed two years ago this month so I really have very little to go on.
He had very little left after his discharge as his footlocker was broken into on his shipboard return voyage from Indo China. I know he served as an instrument technician on bombers in China Burma and remember him mentioning playing ball with Chunalt but that's about it. Is there a site with some vets who might be able to shed some light on his career? I sure do miss the old buzzard (his words) and would love to know more of this part of his past.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Best Regards,
Laurence G. Christianson
Proud son of the late Robert W.

I'm looking for some information about crewmembers who trained on B-17s in Idaho, and subsequently flew to Pearl Harbor the day of the Japanese attack. My father (Joe Graw) was a bombadier who missed the flights over (thank God!) and had to take a ship. H
is wondering what happened to all of his friends that trained with him on the B-17. He has no idea because his ship to Pearl was diverted to Brisbane, Australia, where he obtained an inta service transfer to the Navy and coordinated beach head landings i

Thanks for any help you can send my way.

My father served in India and I assume with this group. He would talk about "The Hump" but beyond that I don't have a clue. He would only tell certain stories sparing us the details. With sadness he would relate each Thanksgiving the loss of two bombers a
either end of the runway. I have no year or location.
I wanted to place his name in the registry for the National WWII Memorial in Wash. DC, and needed his unit and rank and stumbled on this site. Great Job!
"Saheeb Joe" is gone now but the pride he felt throughout his life because of his service in India never faded. Thank you, dad and thanks to all of you who served with him.
