December opened with the 9th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron flying its first mission. On the 10th B-24s from the IATF attacked shipping at Port Blair with negative results. Lashio was bombed on the 17th, 20th, 22nd, and 26th. The railroad station, dock area, arsenal and power plant at Bangkok, Thailand, were bombed on the 26th, and shipping in the Rangoon area was attacked on the 29th.

    The CATF bombed Magwe, Burma on the 28th.

    Japanese aircraft bombed Calcutta and vicinity on the 20th, hitting docks, shipping and airfields. On the 26th A large Japanese force attempted to bomb Yunnani Airfield in China, but were turned back by P-40s of the 16th Fighter Squadron.
