During May 1942 the 10th stepped up its combat operations with continued bombing raids on Rangoon on the 9th, and 25th, raids on Mingaladon Airfield, Burma began on May 5th, with additional raids on the 6th and 9th. Bombing raids in defense of the air cargo route to China against the airfield at Myitkyina, Burma began on May 12th, with additional raids coming on the 14th, 16th, 29th and 30th.

     On May 1st the 10th Air Service Command (ASC) was activated under the command of Brigadier General Elmer E. Adler. Also during May the 35th Pursuit Group was transferred from New Delhi, India to Sydney, Australia; the 10th Air Force completed its move from the US to New Delhi; the 11th Bombardment Squadron arrived at Karachi and then moved on to Allahabad; and Headquarters 7th Bombardment Group moved from Karachi to Dum-Dum.
