My Personal Feelings and Thoughts

Protect Our PetsCan you forget the trusting look on their faces?

My ignorance to the severity :((
This site was extremely painful for me to write. The abuse of the animals is horrific, there is NO doubt these beautiful pets suffered tremendous pain. I'm ashamed to say how naive and ignorant I was with their suffering.

Until I started surfing I didn't realize how wide spread this problem was or that there was such a tremendous amount of abuse going on each and every day!!! We become isolated in life with our TV and newspapers to fill us in. Most abuse cases don't normally make the world news (or even local) because they don't feel it deserves that much attention!!!! Boy are they WRONG!!

This information needs to get out to the general public so people, like myself, can get their heads out of the sand and realize outside of their peaceful realm of love and tranquility with their own pets, others are not doing so well.

We CAN NOT give ALL the animals a safe place to live or feel guilty for the quality of life our pets have compared to the less fortunate......that would be obsession, putting us under constant stress, in turn, causing stress to the pets we do have.....so what can we do?
  • Combine our resources so we can get the word out
  • Be more alert to potential problems
  • Demand stricter punishment to abusers
  • Speak up if we see an animal being abused
  • Treat our pets with the utmost respect
  • Show, through example pets deserve to be treated with love
The blessing of having a pet is how much love and commitment there is on both parts. A pet is always there for you and it's a shame to think of the abuse they have put up with by their owners or those close to them that they trust.

I hope these pages and links that I ran across will educate and make aware of how important it is to speak up if you see abuse to any animal. I've known about the "puppy mills" "cock fighting" dog fights" and the killing of birds" ...these are causes I think most are aware of.....but I did not realize this was still going on (on a daily basis) in today's society!!

Even knowing this, nothing prepared me for the taste in my mouth that totally sickened me to think these crimes are not just for money, but also for pleasure!! Like a night at the movies or a walk in the park!! I must admit to hear of all the innocent animals being tortured to death by the hands of humans for pleasure scares me to death!!! And it should scare you too! As you are reading this an animal is paying with his life at the hands of someone he loves and trusts, or a stranger he wanted to befriend!

We've been aware of cases that animals were abused by humans, and I use the term loosely, but over the years this has become a much larger problem for our society. Children are either injuring or killing animals and pets for no apparent reason, than something to occupy their time. Or to impress their peers!!!

One reason I feel is because some parents are ignoring the fact that it is taking place at all!! Johnny is only "experimenting". They brush it off or in some cases congratulate them on taking care of the problem of these pets roaming on to their property.

This happened with a young boy living here in Tennessee. His biggest pleasure was stoning cats for no other reason than to watch them run! His parents found NO problem with his choice of playtime activity!!! He was only being a boy!! BACK

Abuse From Impulse Purchasing

All pets deserve the right to enjoy a happy home with a loving family. How can we love ourselves and watch an animal go hungry or abused? When we purchase the beautiful baby birdie, kitten, puppy, ferret, rabbit, etc. The list is endless, are we going to still feel the same when they are no longer the cute baby?

When they haven't succeeded in becoming potty trained, or find tearing up your favorite slippers still a playful past time. When the cute puppy/kitten eyes have lost their emotional pull at your heart strings...instead causing anger at the loss of personal possessions, furniture and extra time needed for cleaning of their mess. What happens then?

In some (the best situations) they are given to other families or support groups. In many cases it's abuse!!! The pet is locked outside in weather that was once too hot or too cold for the precious baby to withstand. Alone not knowing or understanding why they are cast out of their human family. On the outside looking in where once they were fed the warm meals that are now leftovers thrown out through a crack in the quick opening of the door. Do they deserve this attention? All they did was grow older!! Is this saying something for our society??

Parrots on the other hand aren't thrown outside...normally it's to a back room in a small cage. Not wanting to take up the space that once held the prestigious play set with all the trimmings. The fruits and veggies that once was fed daily is now seed changed whenever they get around to it. The bird that once made sounds that shook the house now is quiet without words, without thought, without life.

Their human mate has cast them away. Without the knowledge or understanding these birds mourn silently for their loss. Eventually pulling feathers, mutilating themselves out of frustration they are literally committing suicide!! Unless they are retrieved from this household they will surely die. This is a powerful price to pay for being a cute cuddly baby!!!!! BACK
