The Training Collar
|
Sometimes referred to as
a choker chain, the training collar should be about four inches longer
than the circumference of the dogs neck (providing it will slip over
the dogs head easily). This collar should be put on with the
loose end (the end the leash is attached to) coming over the top of
the dog's neck. The collar is put on in this way so that when it
is jerked and released, the collar will not hurt the dog. Always
work your dog on a loose leash as a steady pull on the collar will not
let you give the dog proper corrections. |
The Leash
The leash should be soft
leather or nylon webbing six feet in length. A leather lead is
preferred. The leash must be six feet long, this is a fair requirement.
No chain leashes are allowed as it will hurt the member' hands.
