Irish Surfing is buzzing right now, it's getting better and bigger all the time! Aside from the traditional surf meccas of Tramore, Easkey, Lahainch, Bundoran etc. people all over Ireland are just getting out into the waves and lovin' it. If you live in Dublin and feel nuthin's happening or you want to get your first stoke, the East Coast Surf Club has recently been formed due to huge demand. E-mail me for details. Go for it!
After the extremely successful staging of Guinness Eurosurf '97 in Bundoran last September and the magnificent achievement of the McNulty brothers in grabbing second in the World Big Wave Championships in Todos Santos, Mexico, this winter, Ireland is finally be recognised as an international force after years of being a secret spot for loads of the world's top surfers to come and chill and escape the crowds and surf what the Stormrider's Guide to Europe describes as the "best waves outside of Hawaii".
All this augurs well for the future and Ireland's bid to hoost the world champs in the next few years. It will happen! Believe it.
