Welcome
to Clontibret
Some time back I was thinking
about the enjoyment and pleasure I have had over the past number of
years through playing football for Clontibret. In particular the great
honour it was to be one of the few privileged representatives who played
in the Ulster Senior Club Championship in 1994, reaching the final only
to be defeated by a single point by Bellaghy, Co. Derry. I then
thought about the players who never were afforded the opportunity to do
likewise or those who do not receive the recognition senior clubs
do. I also felt there was a necessity to provide them with
something more. This was when the idea of an Ulster Intermediate
Club Championship came to mind. With the tremendous facilities we
are privileged to have in Clontibret, it was the ideal venue for a
competition of this stature.
The club wholeheartedly
welcomed the proposal and the initial plans were soon set in
motion. On that note I wish to thank our Club Chairman, Peter
McKenna and members of the Club Executive for their support to
date. My extremely hard working sub-committee also deserve a huge
amount of praise for the hours they have spent organising, planning and
putting the wheels of progress into motion. I have been
particularly impressed with their commitment, given the fact that they
are all players within the club.
Many thanks must go to the
main competition sponsor, Bank of Ireland whose continued support is
essential to the running of this competition.
On a final note, I hope all
participating clubs enjoy taking part in the competition and take with
them both memories and experience.
Go raibh mile maith agaibh go
leir,
Deaglan Ó Mochain (Declan
Moen), Chairman, Organising Committee
