Club Focus 2000
Tir na nOg (Co. Antrim)
Tir na nOg is a mixture of
youth and experience at present with four players remaining from their
last Intermediate Championship winning team thirteen years ago.
Two of these players, Stephen
McVeigh at mid-field and Sean Devlin in goals, are past County Antrim
players.
A loyal and valuable addition
to the team since then has been Seamus Hastings, who originally heralds
from Crossmaglen where he grew up and played alongside Jim McConville in
his earlier years.
Some of the bright new stars
are Martin McMullen at mid-field and Ryan Boyd, who switch between
mid-field and half-forward. Martin has played for his county at
Minor and U21 level and also represented Trinity College in the Sigerson
Cup. Likewise, Ryan has also played at Minor and U21 level and is
one of the club's most talented and brightest prospects for the future.
The team is managed by
Anthony Brady who has served his club as an enthusiastic footballer,
hurler and lately as a dedicated coach at juvenile level.
The 200 season was his first
venture into Senior management and proved largely successful, winning
the Intermediate Championship and Division Three League.
