Skaven army (1500 points)           - Magic based Skaven army                  (2/0/0)

Theory - the plan was for an army that could blast the opponent with those lethal Necro spells (you didn't have to randomise them which helps).  I therefore took two power storing items, and the book of secrets, so that my Warlock could whither his stats to cast spells with (he is hiding in the big regiment with my general).  We were not allowed the Forbidden Rod, and Book of Ashur has had a ruling which means you don't get to pick spells now, so this won't work quite the same now.   The Rat-Ogres and Monks are there for sheer Hand-to-Hand power.  Wind Globes for auto-wounding on characters. 

I personally think the Plague Monks are one of the most cost-effective troops in the whole game.  6.5 points for 3 strength 3 attacks, toughness 4.  Also backed up with the Censor Bearers, 15 points for 2 strength 6 attacks (plus poison cloud attacks), toughness 4, plus the priest, plus they hate!  Compared to my elfs, 12 points = 1 strength 3 attack, 3 toughness, and Sword-Masters are 17 points for 1 strength 5 attack, toughness 3, I see a slight disparagy....   (and I wont even go into Vermin Lords)

I played a similar derivative after this, but using a Warlock Master, and two engineers.  I dropped the rat-ogres, an most of the censor bearers, and took some Gutter Runners, Jezails, and skirmishing slaves.  This also won convincingly against some Wood Elves.

Practice - They arse-kicked!  Sure at the end my Warlock was a cowardly, slobbering wreck, unable to fight, and aged beyond its years.  But it has the satisfaction that the glory of the clan has spread much further.  A wind-of-death across the back of the table (nicely lined up over all the enemies war-machines and a unit of cross-bow men), a couple of curse-of-years into his main HtH unit, and things were pretty much settled.  Next time I gotta have more points and get some Doom-wheels and Vermin lords!
