St. James Intergenerational AfterSchool Program |
  |
Housed in the church, the Intergenerational AfterSchool Program has a goal to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment for children ages 5 to 14 years of age during
the after school hours. The youth served are mostly from single parent homes (90%) and have incomes that range from low to moderate.
Using a unique combination of senior citizens, adults, college students and teenagers, St. James Intergenerational AfterSchool Program places an emphasis on academic excellence. Designed to provide quality, affordable yet non-traditional after shool care, the program's main focus is to help the children not only academically but to strengthen social and problem solving skills, and allow them the opportunity to expand their horizons through cultural and recreational activities. The program, which runs from September through June, serves an average of 45 children annually. To enroll your child(ren) or receive more information, contact Mildred Sifford. |
