At St. James AME Church, we take seriously God's directive to meet the needs of our church family and the greater community. Social outreach is part of what being a diligent Christian is all about.

As the umbrella organization for our outreach programs, St James Social Services Corporation is there to meet the needs of the people.

This non-profit entity is considered one of the leading social services agencies in the city of Newark and its surrounding communities, but it is also a ministry.

It is our charge to support the family unit by changing the economic circumstances and improving the overall quality of life for children, the elderly, low-income families and the homeless. We are able to help them by supporting them in the area of some of their basic needs.

St. James Social Services is housed at The Blake House , a historic building located at 604 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
