Christmas... This is the time of year we all get excited about the comming new year and all the great food and cheer during the holidays. Christmas in the commercial sense is for kids. The anticipation of Santa bringing all the great stuff.... We are all kids, right. Presents don't have to be the kind that are wrapped, one of my favourites is the car making it through the winter. :)

At the same time it is a time to reflect on the year and count our blessings for what we have and do our best to ensure it gets better. For us adults it is a time that for several reasons brings us closer together with family and friends.

Speaking of Family and Christmas, I was reading about Donald Westlake's "A Likely Story" where it was quoted:
"There is a tidal pull in great simple ideas, nowhere more evident than in the great simple ideas of Christmas. It begins as a mere birthday, in deceptively plain circumstances, but at once the event resonates, becomes larger than itself, in fact other than itself. Because Christmas is not, after all, the birthday of God; that is surely Easter, when Christ does what only a God can do of his own volition. He rises from the dead.
Christmas is something simpler, clearer, more understandable and less disputable: Christmas is the birth of the family."

This Christmas we are blessed to have the Smith's visit and stay with us a few days. These folks of tropical origins are travelling from Doha, Qatar (in the Persian Gulf) where they teach music to come to the frozen* north western part of the world for Christmas vacation. The international travellers are Carolyn's sister and family. Kathy, Murray, Madeline & Murray. The time sitting in an airline seat alone makes the mind go fizzy.
With only a few days before the guy with the red suit calls we have plenty of things to do and get straightened out. It's always a busy time of year and "this is a good thing".

During the past year plenty of things have happened around the McLellan house and past years I have sent out a note with Christmas cards to keep you up to date. Thankyou for yours as well This year is a little different as the sign of the times seems to perpetuate this idea of saving trees and avoiding cards and letters at this time of year. Well you can rest assured I did not even write this down on paper before electrons were recycled for this. After reading this join me in running outside and hug a tree. I will if you do.

The Girls are doing well and are happy keeping busy, Karin at her school work, soccer, friends and her time honoured endurance sport of talking on the phone. Sherri, Dan & her kittens are also doing quite well. Sherri has two balls of fluff to keep out of trouble in the apartment, Cosmo & the older Luna. (I hope my spelling is OK) The young one has had a bit of trouble but seems to be on the mend.
We have in past years have had several visits to the hospital (every long weekend for several years) and we are now pleased to report that we have set foot in these places only about twice in 1997. Very relieving indeed. In other words this is to say that everyone is reasonably healthy with the exception of a runny nose here and there. We have recently discovered (or reinforced the thought) the magic of traditional herbal medicine and in particular the cold remidy, Echinacea. This really works, have a sniffle, wash down a couple of these, poof, cold gone.

News from seasonal letters past always were in short supply (the letters were too) but now we have the weeeb to fix that.
Look around the site and let us know you are still out there! We have posted some news and such that can be found with the buttons at the top of the page.

Don't let this be the only time you stop by, the pages are always here and get updated more often than I care to admit. If you have stopped by recently you may want to "reload" some pages to stay current. I will not change the address of the pages so you can bookmark any of them.

Have a very Merry Christmas, wishes for a Happy New Year and our sincere hope this finds you well.

Carolyn Don Karin Sherri Dan Luna Cosmo

PS. Next year I hope to have pictures to show you. Oh, goody, slides! :) Maybe I could put the Mac in the photos too. :)

* Frozen - Can you believe this winter! Grass fires in Alberta, snow in Mexico and only a few days ago I was watering the fir trees in shirt sleeves. Kind of strange but a bit (just a bit) of snow for the reindeer would also be nice.
