Industry's Smallest, Full-Function Supply Voltage Supervisor from TI Reduces Board Space and Power Consumption for Portable Applications

A new family(TPS3801) of supervisory circuits from Texas Instruments(TI) provides designers with the industry's firs full-function Supply Voltage Supervisor (SVS) in a PicoGate package, which allows them to reduce board space and ease power consumption constraints while still maintaining a high level of system integrity. Designers can use this new supervisory circuit for portable Digital Signal Processors (DSPs), microcontrollers and microprocessors for portable applications, such as wireless communication devisec, portable and battery powered equipment, and notebook computers. See www.ti.com/sc/aap2770u . This circuits support a DSP that has core voltage of 2.5V, such as TI's TMS320C6201 DSP.
Optimized for portable applications, the TPS3801 is the firs industry's, full-function SVS to come in a 5-pin SC-70 (SOT-323) package.
Suggested 1,000-piece resale price: $0.53

AMD's Athlon chip VS Intel Pentium III
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has launched the world's fastest and highest-performing microprocessor for personal computers
Performance of this chip is, on average, 9% faster than the 600 MHz Pentium III from Intel. In graphics tests, the Athlon was 21% faster, running three-dimensional modelling software.
Recomanded prices are for the 650-MHz version of the Athlon $849 each, $615 for a 600-MHz Athlon , and 550- and 500-MHz versions for $449 and $249.

µFlashTCP - single board computer

The µFlashTCP is a single board computer
 based on the Intel 386Ex, a high-performance,
 32-bit, single-chip microcomputer that is
capable of
protected-mode operation. The 386Ex also includes an extensive array of integrated peripherals. Onboard Ethernet allows direct connection to 10BASE-T networks. The serial ports, counter/timers, and interrupt controller are fully compatible with the IBM PC at both the hardware and software levels. With additional features such as the watchdog timer and RS-485 serial port capability, the µFlashTCP covers many embedded design requirements.

MEMORY CORPORATION INTRODUCE FASTEST HIGH PERFORMANCE CONTROLLER IN FLASH MEMORY

Memory Corporation, the Easdaq listed memory systems company, has introduced FSM (Flash System Manager), a new technology which will revolutionise the performance of file storage applications for flash memory. Memory Corporation started development of Flash System Manager in 1995. Research in the fundamental characteristics of data storage in flash memory, including advanced mathematical modeling, has resulted in proprietary algorithms that offer efficient use of flash memory and provide very high reliability. The company has started sampling of an ATA/IDE flash controller incorporating the new technology. The controller, code-named FSC-2, is designed to work with standard flash devices of NAND type from Toshiba, Samsung, AMD and Fujitsu, as well as AND devices from Hitachi.
