Editor's Page ....no one (NOT even Shimadzu) has jurisdiction over the truth! January 2002
In reviewing the individual page view statistics generated by website visitors to this site over the past year, some interesting trends continue to be observed. First of all, there was a direct correlation between the number of emails received concerning the cut-throat memo written by Shimadzu Regional Manager Terry Adams and the number of hits accessing the adams.htm support page. But Mr. Adams' memo was displaced as the most visited link at the www.bigfoot.com/~shimadzu-sux domain to #2 by The Japanese Rape of Nanking. People around the world are taking increasing note of the atrocities inflicted by the Japanese (and Shimadzu) dating back to the sneaky attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Meanwhile, the 3rd most visited link was our Manufacturer's Showcase of Quality Analytical Instrumentation Vendors who don't have the baggage nor the inferior instrument quality problems that Shimadzu suffers from! Website visitors continue to be genuinely interested in any attempt by Shimadzu to quash our right to free speech. As a group, the censor.htm, coverup.htm (#4) and speech.htm support pages were the second most visited links at the www.bigfoot.com/~shimadzu-sux domain just nudging out Mr. Adams' explosive interoffice memo. Other support pages with significant page views rounding out the Top 10 Most Visited Links (in decreasing order) included: Shimadzu GC Blows Up (#5), Shimadzu's Inferior UV-1601 Offering (#6), The Awards That Shimadzu Didn't Get (#7), Shimadzu & Ladies Clubs (#8), The Foreign Language Translator (#9), and tied for 10th was The Horrors of Using a Shimadzu GC/MS and Sexual Harassment at Shimadzu. For nearly four years, we have been soliciting input from our website visitors telling us why and which scientific equipment they won't be buying from Shimadzu. To date, we have received input from more than 475 prospective customers who have stated unequivocally that they won't be buying certain Shimadzu instrumentation. And for the 9th consecutive year, Shimadzu's corporate net sales and/or income has NOT surpassed the figures reported back in 1992. Conservative estimates place the loss of sales to Shimadzu (thanks to this website and the input from >460 prospective customers as of 30 September 2001) at just over $22.5 million US dollars.... can Shimadzu say $30 million??? Another updated accounting will follow again sometime during the second half of 2002. Shimadzu continues to miss out on the sale of numerous HPLCs, GC/MSs, LC-MSs, TOCs, UV-Vis, AAs and FTIRs. And the losses will only continue to grow! Dear Shimadzu: What do you think of our "divide and conquer" theme.... it's working very well! Shimadzu and company shareholders have seen their fortunes dwindle away over the past year. Shimadzu noted to shareholders and customers: "on the profit and loss side, operating income was down 29.9%." for the year ended March 31, 2001. In fact, Shimadzu reported a net loss of $85,315,000 US dollars which amounted to a net loss of $0.32 per share.... OUCH! This company is seeing RED.... it's hemorrhaging! After reporting these results, Shimadzu watched their stock price (Dow Jones Company symbol: J. SMD) plummet from a 52 week high of 540 yen (early in the year) to a 52 week low of 294 yen by the end of 2001. You can track the dismal results at www.multities.com using the ticker number: 7701. Want to go with a LOSER.... choose Shimadzu! And Shimadzu's Medical division will only hurt their bottom line even more after publication of the article entitled "Elephants Dance in China's Hospital" ....and Shimadzu Gets Trampled! Noteworthy quotes included: "Like the hospital, Shimadzu is slowly being squeezed out of the Chinese market by the emerging, fiercely competitive nature of the market; GE and Siemens have been battling it out in a progressively more intense battle that has resulted in significant damage to Shimadzu; Shimadzus story reads like a rags-to-riches-to-rags story in the China market; Shimadzu grew rapidly in China.... too rapidly; problems with product quality and service, along with disputes with local partners and poor channel management have done serious damage to Shimadzus reputation among Chinas hospitals [now you now why they call it $hit-madzu]; Shimadzu puts a brave face on all this, saying that it is moving up the value chain to offer higher quality products that carry better margins [yeah right!]; Shimadzu also points to a replacement round for its equipment due to begin this year, apparently without catching the irony implied for its own product quality." Shimadzu finds itself in an emerging market squeeze in China.... and it will lose. Wait, Watch & SEE! During 2002, we will watch from the sidelines to see if Shimadzu can snag any awards (or even an honorable mention) at Pittcon '02.... highly unlikely! The outdated technologies (including those incendiary devices) peddled by Shimadzu should help to seal their fate once again even before the voting begins! Think about it.... what cutting-edge innovations is Shimadzu known for? Can you mention even one product? We will continue our quest of bringing incredible new stories, periodic updates along with late-breaking disparaging news about Shimadzu to light. We thank our website visitors, many of whom who sit on the sidelines as horrified onlookers to an automobile pile-up.... is Shimadzu naive enough to think that customers will buy their $hitty products after reading thru this homepage? We are grateful to our steadfast network of contributors and sources who supply us with news tips, ideas and story suggestions such that we are not starved for content. Finally, we'll thank [again] the sales people working for the competition who continue to share some of the fruits of their labor in the form of sales dollars they took from Shimadzu due to the persistant presence of this homepage on the world wide web. Dear Shimadzu: Our network of custodians will insure that the Shimadzu Consumer Alerts homepage will not vanish from the internet any time soon! Maybe you missed the.... n.b. It's been observed that if you throw enough
$hit-madzu up on the wall.... some of it is bound to stick. More and more is clinging....
hence, the slinging will continue with glee!
Dear Shimadzu: $5M US dollars for the rights to this homepage effective 30 September 2001. You can pay now or pay later.... it will just cost more later!
At Shimadzu, it's all about delivering.... $hit to YOU! This page was last 01/21/02 |
