Stereo Quicktime

One shot 360 degree Panoramic Photography produces an image that covers the whole horizontal 360 degrees of a scene on a single piece of film or other image capturing media.  Stereo Photography is the simulation of three-dimensional effects by photographing a subject from two slightly differing view points.  By combining these two methods and viewing the results in a Virtual Reality computer program, it is possible to recreate a three dimensional virtual environment covering a 360 degree field of view.

This web site looks at the development of an imaging system that is capable of producing 360 degree digital panoramic images from a single shot.  Secondly, methods of creating Stereo 360 Degree Virtual Reality Images from the imaging system have been developed.

This work is undertaken as the final year project for the degree of Bachelor of Applied Science (Photography) at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology under the supervision of Associate Professor Gale E. Spring.
