We all know about a cable tv channel called Mtv. And we all know it stands for Music Television. Anyone who watches Mtv or tries to will quickly find out that hardly any music is ever played. First of all why devote the name of your channel to a topic you do not concentrate on? Mostly Mtv plays various non-music related shows.
Early in the 80s the channel gained power by giving the youth what it wanted. Since they established so much power over Americas youth they could set a standard of what is cool and what is not. Thanks to Mtv music is no longer about music but about image and popularity. Take the talent out of music and set a standard of how to look and you have a typical music video they might play. Mtv's viewers want to be like the heroes they see on tv so they try to mimic them.
Because of this power companies who sell products to youth like to advertise on this channel therefor making Mtv crap loads of money. Mtv is just about money and not music. Mtv is not the whole problem. It is also record companies that want to sell image and not music because image makes more money. As a high school student I can see that image has sucked in my peers by taking there money and convencing them what is cool.
Thats why Mtv sucks!
