Saturday, October 21, 2006 8:47:15 PM In the Corinthian Gulf Aphrodite is everywhere. In beauty shops, cosmetic ads, hotels, bars, and restaurants, the cult peeks around the thin veneer of Christianity everywhere. As far east as Ephesus the image of Aphrodite appears and reappears as an ancient value that will not be eradicated, forgotten or ignored. I am devoted to Aphrodite. Every now and then she looks at me directly through the eyes of a perfect woman, reminds me of her divinity, and elicits my rededication. Last week I met such a woman, open-minded, eager to learn, self-empowered, beautiful and inspiring. After my initial elation, I was overwhelmed with the joy of knowing yes, such women do exist, and I had the privilege of meeting one. Later in the week, as my hormones settled down, I came off the high and reacquainted myself with the modern illusion of reality, the even-tempered pace of daily life. But I know Aphrodite is waiting behind the veil, beneath the veneer, for another chance to show her beauty. As I turned away from the miracle of love at first sight, I found once again my loving wife at my side, another face of Divinity, a dedicated buddy and companion. Yes Aphrodite is alive. So are Athena, Hera, and all the other goddesses we have revered. Margaret and I enjoyed a day of sexual devotion, a quiet celebration of our togetherness, and a dinner of Greek mezes together, playing chants from around the world, and discussing religion. There is only one Divinity, and it runs throughout the Universe. Some call it Brama, some call it Baa, some call it YHWH. It appears before our eyes in physical form, and we give it names. All that is called Divine is part of it, whether we call it Krishna, Buddha, Hera, Athena, Aphrodite, Poseidon, Apollo, Margaret, or David. There is one absolute, ideal Divinity, and we are all part of it. The manifest Universe is the body of God. It is the logical and necessary outcome of the infinite self-knowingness of God. -- Ernest Holmes
Mon, 16 Oct 2006 20:08:37 -0700 (GMT-07:00) I am in love! Level 7 turned out to be the most awesome HAI workshop ever! How wonderful it is to live in the moment and notice my feelings. I love everyone in general, and some specific people in particular. All day today I wandered in a daze from my desk to the window, looking out over the City and daydreaming about my love. A new love, an old love. No matter. Love is one thing you have more of after you give it. And give it, I did. Such beautiful people, such magnificent experiences! I claimed my right to create my own experience, and the beautiful people appeared before my eyes. More beautiful than ever before. How can I meet again, I thought? Dinner parties? Lunch? I began feeling desparate. There is so little time! Someone special is leaving town! And then I remembered. It's not about what we're going to do. It's all about the feeling. What a gift, that I am feeling these feelings, being in love right now. Thank you! I am lucky lucky lucky! I am in love!
