Jay Anderson: Portfolio #2
"Iowascapes"
Both Jay and Marilyn grew up in Iowa and have
continued to return to visit over the years. During the past few years they have become
increasing aware of the changing rural landscape as farms are consolidated by the large
agribusinesses. This has resulted in the disappearance of farmsteads and small town
businesses. In view of this they have both begun to record this change on each visit. In
1997 Jay had a show titled "Iowascapes" at the "factory photoworks
gallery" which is located in "Old Town", Alexandria, VA. One of the Images (top left) "Feed, Seed, Salt, Grain and
Coal" received an Honorable Mention Award in Modern Maturity Magazine's
"Your Home Town Contest." The images "Church, Warren County, Iowa" (top
right) and "Frank Barnard, Cultivating" (2nd row right) were made by
Jay in 1949. The remainder have all been made recently.
