Jay Anderson: Portfolio #4 "Reflections"

For several years I photographed glassware against a brightly lighted white background. This back lighted glassware photographed as dark outlines. In mid 1996 I started using a black background and large diffuse light sources symmetrically placed on each side of the glassware. The reflections of the light sources became as much the subject of the resulting images as was the glassware.

These images became moderately successful in regard to both exhibit acceptances and sales. This series now has approximately thirty different images. As I began to include clear glassware and move in closer making the images more abstract they became even more sensual. This led to the series which I call "Studies in Shape and Form."
