Millipede |
|
Woolly Millipede, a 35' caterpillar was created in October 1994 in the abandoned Geneva Iron Works site, in Youngstown, Ohio. Six artists commuted to Youngstown once a week to complete the piece. The Millipede construction consisted of materials found on-site; plastic, steel wire, window frames, steelworker clothes. Eventually the sculpture spurred the B-movie classic 'Attack of the Giant Woolly Millipede'. The symbol of destruction resided there until the demolition of the mill in 1996.
