Swimmer
'Swimmer', The 30' wind activated swimmer sculpture was constructed in the abandoned Lawrence Paint and Varnish building, Pittsburgh, April 1993 - April 1994. With the involvement of eight people, the figure was created over the course of a year on the sixth floor of the neglected landmark. Using found metal and wood, the piece was constructed and suspended from the rafters, in a way that allowed its arms and legs to move. The Swimmer was discovered and cut down by the property owners, until being recovered and taken to safer location, the Aliquippa Community Arts Festival in August of 1994. The sculpture was exhibited until being condemned by a local planning authority the following year.
