COUPLE
DANCING
In the ballroom, we dance as couples, normally with a leader and a follower. To be able to
dance with ease and good image, the couple has to be able to dance together,
not separately and individually.
To keep things in order, one
partner is the leader, normally but not exclusively, the man, who
determines the dance patterns to be executed. The other partner is the follower,
usually but not exclusively, the lady whose main responsibility is to follow the leader's
leads. They cannot be both leader and follower, otherwise there will only be confusion,
and they will only end contradicting each other.
This section cover the most basic
principles of couple dancing, an good understanding and practice of which will help make
your dancing a very enjoyable experience.
