Staring at the Stars....

Courage

She sang ... she danced
She had no fear
Stood tall against the day
Wished to perform
Performed she did
Ahh...listen to the music
From a child's heart

Child with children
Love bonded close
Stars against the cold night
Defying the Dark
Promise of light

Time marching
Dark closing in
Couragous child
Bent with caution
Music faint..star weary

Child of mine
With heart of Gold
Let music rise
as of old
blessed Music sounding again

I love this child.

The Old Rugged Tree

Ah....the silence.....

The dew on the grass....
The snowcapped mountains in the background....
As I wait for the sun to peak over the mountain tops....
The beauty of it all.

Ah....the life of a tree....

I have seen it all.
The fires, the wars,
The children, the settlers,
And one of the most interesting, the Indians.
And before that, the peace of it all.....
Known as the beginning of a seedling.

Now, I am old and rugged....
Ah....the memories....
The stories I’ve heard....
I stood straight and tall as I watched.
The Indians hunt the buffalo....
I stood straight and tall as I watched.
The Indians fight the blue coats....
I stood straight and tall as I watched the buffalo leave....
Silence...Silence...so quiet...

The settlers are coming...
You can hear the wheels of the wagons...
Rolling, rolling, rolling...
You can hear the laughter of the children...
Running, playing, climbing my limbs...
Hiding in between the leaves and branches...
Ah...the feel of youth.

Ah...the wars....

I watch brother against brother...
Father against son...
So much blood so much death...
Will I survive ?
The fires are close...
I can hear the clash of steel and
Smell the smoking guns...

Oh, my...
Now, the silence again...
The war is over.

Now I stand very old, very rugged...
I stand here waiting for the logging crew to come.
In my best, I was young and strong...
Now I am old and weak.
I am being cut down for a new housing division.
The sounds of children will ring again.
Yet my time is past...
And now...I am no more.
I am only a memory for those that have passed
In the last two hundred years...
I bid farewell...

Ah...the silence...again.
